Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has recently received a new limited-time event. It’s a mix of a unique map overhaul and rare gameplay mode inspired by Free-For-All format. It has impressed many fans so far. However, it looks like there are also players who are simply getting bored with this event and its mode.
Modern Warfare 3 has featured numerous options like Zombies, Warzone and Multiplayer since its release. Within the three modes, there are various other modes like Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Domination and more. The devs recently decided to bring a twist to the Multiplayer setup by rolling out the Vortex event with the makeover of three popular maps. Sadly, the transition has been underwhelming for some users.

Additionally, the Vortex also features an additional free-for-all mode. It sees six players fighting against each other using the Ray Gun. Yes, that’s the twist made by devs. Instead of the usual weapons, they have given the players a chance to wield the iconic Zombies Wonder Weapon inside MW3’s Multiplayer experience.

Players have to focus on getting the Ray Gun owner to hunt them down and prevent them from amassing many kills. Ultimately, they can go on to obtain some lucrative rewards like the animated Magma camo. Plus, they can also unlock weapon charms, stickers, and calling cards.

However, some players are definitely not satisfied with the Vortex free-for-all. At least that’s what a recent Reddit post indicates. An individual, known as RuggedTheDragon on the social platform, mentioned that “Vortex is a terrible mode.” According to the user, the mode is just similar to free-for-all without having Killstreaks.
The user wrote that the addition of Ray Gun “is awful and you can obtain victory without using the ray gun.” Presenting their reason for disliking the Vortex mode, the Redditor revealed that they assumed it, “was going to be a mode where you can ONLY earn score with Ray Gun kills, similar to that of the ‘Man with the Golden Gun’ game mode.” Sadly, it hasn’t turned out like that for them.

The user did acknowledge the redesigned maps of Scrapyard, Rust, and Quarry (Sporeyard, Tetanus, and Satan’s Quarry). But they also mentioned that it’s just for a temporary duration and the devs won’t bring them back unless there happens to be another special event in the future.
