After a delay because of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the production for The Last of Us season 2 will finally commence in February. But for that, the whole cast is needed. And until recently, there was no confirmation of who would play Abby. And Abby is going to be one of the main characters this season. Now, Kaitlyn Dever has finally been confirmed as the actress who will play Abby in Season 2, and the fans couldn’t be happier. 

With works like Unbelievable and Dopesick under her hat, Dever makes a strong case for her excellence in acting. The actress has also worked with Naughty Dog before, when she played Cassie Drake in the epilogue of Uncharted 4. Now she will play Abby, and following the announcement, she was welcomed by, well, Abby.

Laura Bailey to be Kaitlyn Dever’s ‘gym buddy’ during the training for The Last of Us? 

For those who haven’t played The Last of Us Part II, Laura Bailey plays Abby. Now we know that season 2 will be based on the second game so it was only a matter of time before we got to know who would play Abby. Celebrations began as Kaitlyn Dever was announced as Abby in Season 2. Reacting to the news, Laura Bailey was among the first ones to react. She tweeted, “Let me know if you want a workout buddy.”

The post is fitting for two reasons. One, it will be a physical role. Going by the story for TLOU2, it will be action packed and we can expect action sequences. And two, Abby is physically well built, putting it mildly. Anyone who has played the game knows one thing that stood out was her physique. Towards the end of the game, Tommy even describes her as “Built like an Ox.” PS5 fans will get to revisit the game in its full glory when the PS5 remaster releases later this month. Meanwhile, Laura Bailey, who also had a cameo in season 1, can be excited like the rest of the fans to see Kaitlyn Dever bring the character to life in season 2. That’s right, if you recall the end of season 1 when Joel makes his way to the operation theatre to save Ellie, there’s a doctor and two nurses. Laura Bailey was one of those nurses.

While we gear up for TLOU season 2, we recently saw Bella Ramsey sweat it out in the gym lately for her transition as Ellie in the next chapter.
