Be it FPS classics like Call of Duty or the ever-busy Battle Royale of Fortnite, the gaming world has been a red carpet for the biggest of celebrities. So, let’s have a look at the best celebrity associations that happened during 2023.

Epic Games’ Battle Royale had one of its best years. Following the announcement of the OG Chapter, Fortnite went to new heights. While the Fortnite fans are no stranger to some big collaborations, the recent ones would go down as some of the unforgettable ones. Fortnite’s Big Bang event saw The Real Slim Shady, Eminem, followed by another big musician.

The Weeknd is the most recent celebrity collaboration for Fortnite immediately after the big Eminem association. While The Weeknd Skin celebrates the success of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, Eminem’s concert laid out the much-needed foundation for the new phase of the Battle Royale.

Overall, both these collaborations have only brought more attention to the game and resulted in a lot of veterans being immersed in the rise of Fortnite!

  • Cyberpunk 2077: Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves

Cyberpunk 2077 was a pleasant surprise for the gaming community. CD Projekt’s highly awaited expansion Phantom Liberty brought the players two familiar faces. First was the returning Keanu Reeves. And second, was the introduction of the face of the Phantom Liberty expansion, Idris Elba. In fact, this specific merger from Phantom Liberty may have been the coolest celebrity integration in recent times.

Idris Elba as secret agent Solomon Reed and Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. Having the John Wick as your guide throughout the game and getting to interact with Idris Elba, a perfect pitch to the lovers of cinema! What made it even more interesting was when CD Projekt stated that both these characters were specifically made for the actors.

  • Apex Legends: Post Malone

Almost a month ago, Post Malone made his long-awaited debut in his favorite epic Apex Legends. The star musician had always expressed his liking for the game and thus the collaboration was speculated for a long time. Finally, the singer confirmed his arrival to EA’s Battle Royale on November 7. Taking the announcement on X, the latter wrote, Get ready for two weeks of beautiful mayhem.”

The biggest partnership in Apex Legends™ history starts now, Legends. We’re squadding up with Post Malone to unleash two weeks of beautiful mayhem featuring a brand new Limited Time Mode – Three Strikes, cosmetics created in partnership with the superstar musician and inspired by his love of The Games, and more,” the official site of Apex Legends wrote about the merger. As expected, the collaboration brought a striking spotlight to the Battle Royale for the two-week campaign.

  • Exodus: Matthew McConaughey

The Game Awards 2023 set the stage for Matthew McConaughey to announce his arrival in the gaming world. A game billed as a “narrative-driven sci-fi shooter” from Austin-based Archetype Entertainment pits humans against extraterrestrials who seem to have special abilities aka The Celestials. The spaceship that the explorers stumble upon in the teaser appears to be theirs—that is, the extraterrestrial race.

Due to time dilation, the game will concentrate on the impact decisions have across decades, as the clip illustrates. After leaving Earth, humanity is now searching the galaxy for a place to call home. Right now, tt is unknown which character Matthew McConaughey will be voicing. Considering the fact that he has already explored the dark side of the cosmos in Nolan’s epic adventure Interstellar, it adds more value to the vision of the developers.

  • OD: Jordan Peele and Hideo Kojima

Another big surprise that unfolded at The Game Awards 2023 was the title announcement of OD (Overdose). The announcement from legendary game director, Hideo Kojima, and Jordan Peele, known for horror superhits like Nope and Get Out. Both being the pioneers of their field left the fans glued to what the project had in store.

Kojima fans have reminisced about such a grand collaboration from the days of Silent Hills. Remember the celebrated team up of Kojima with Guillermo Del Toro along with The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus? Well, the potential of Silent Hills as promised by P.T. unfortunately met a dead end. So, is OD the compensation fans have rooted for so long?

  • Stormgate: Simu Liu

Simu Liu featured at TGA 2023 when he unveiled his next project as the actor and it looked as promising as ever. Stormgate, a real-time strategy game, puts Simu Liu as the face of the world. As Warz, the actor discovers the journey of magical capabilities through combat taking on formidable enemies.

And the best part? The actor brings his own charm and wit to the tone of the protagonist in the much-awaited classic.

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 5: Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg

Throughout the entire season, Call of Duty gamers had the thrilling chance to select from a variety of legendary operators, including Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage, in honor of 50 years of hip-hop.
