GTA 6 Takes Another Step Towards In-Game ‘Social Media’ Evolution Thanks to the TikTok Parody

Can’t get enough of the trailer launch? Well, the GTA 6 trailer has surely taken the internet world by storm. However, this might not be surprising for all the hardcore fans of the franchise who have been rooting for the day for a decade now. The first official sneak peek of the forthcoming installment has now taken community expectations to a whole new level. Besides everything the game promises to offer through the trailer, a special feature has been drawing some extra attention. Remember using social media in GTA V? It’s back. And this time, it’s better.

The evolution of social media has been one big story in recent years. From the early days of Facebook to the current craze around short-form content, the shift in social media trends has been quite eventful. And this can be seen in GTA as well. GTA V had lifeinvader and Bleeter. Now, GTA 6 will have a TikTok parody.

GTA 6 trailer impressed fans with a ‘detailed’ TikTok parody

The launch of the GTA 6 trailer is a huge step forward, not just for the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but also for the whole industry. Following the success of GTA 5, fan surely have very high expectations with GTA 6. And if the trailer is any indication, the game will surpass it. At least visually, it looks great. And with the power of the PS5, one can only imagine. One of the most impressive bits about the trailer was the amount of detail and all the things it teased. And one such thing was TikTok and Reels.

The one-and-a-half-minute-long trailer dropped includes some intriguing Easter eggs. Looking at one of them, which apparently seemed to be one big highlight of the sneak peek, is the TikTok parody. The trailer showcases various frames having interfaces quite similar to TikTok and Reels. You can see a lot of creators posting short-form content like vlogs, rapping, and twerking. Seemingly, all videos were inspired by real-life TikTok trends that appealed to a lot of internet users. 

This new parody of short-form content in GTA 6 is as convincing as ever. You might recall the similar parodies Rockstar Games introduced in GTA V for Facebook and Twitter. 

Looking back at the days of ‘Lifeinvader’ and ‘Bleeter’

GTA V was full of parody references for iconic brands. At the time of its release, it had covered most of the big brands. For instance, iFruit was a parody of Apple Inc. And it is just the surfaces of all the parody Easter eggs the game had. Still, the social media commentary in the game was a fan favorite.

At the time of the GTA V launch, Facebook and Twitter were the biggest social media platforms. The year 2013 was yet to witness the wide bloom of social media. The Facebook parody was called Lifeinvader and its description read, The reason the world never gets anything done any more.” You could ‘stalk’ your friends on the same. 


The Twitter parody was called the ‘Bleeter’ and it used a sheep instead of a bird. Information isn’t about imparting knowledge anymore. The Internet changed all that,” the description read.

So, if you haven’t used Bleeter or Lifeinvader in GTA V yet, the GTA 6 trailer is your reminder to spend some time on the sites. Because the next big social media evolution in Grand Theft Auto is coming!
