Hideo Kojima is hard at work on his upcoming game, Death Stranding 2. The game is easily one of the most anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusives that could launch next year. Ever since its announcement at the Game Awards last year, Hideo Kojima has yet to even utter a word about this game. But with TGA 2023 a day away, things have started getting lively yet again.

There have been rumors about the legendary game director bringing his new game to the upcoming TGA. There was also a previous Kojima tweet that people believed to be a tease. And now he was seen with the Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst. What are they cooking?

Hideo Kojima and the Head of PlayStation Studios might be discussing Death Stranding 2 strategy!

Death Stranding 2 is without a doubt the kind of game that people are buying the PlayStation 5 for. These are what people call system sellers. The first game sold close to 5 million copies by July 2021. Further, it won multiple awards. And most importantly, it was seen as a very special game. That was thanks to its unique nature. Hideo Kojima really flourished under the freedom he was given after he went independent.

After he announced the sequel, fans were blown away and puzzled. Blown away because it looked just incredible. And puzzled because they could not understand where the sequel would be going. Kojima himself has not been doing them any favors either. He refuses to give fans any hint as to what’ happening. But one thing is for sure: a new trailer for this game is closer than ever. Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, was seen visiting Kojima. And fans are taking it as a sign that a new trailer and this game’s launch date draw closer.

Fans must also remember that Hermen was also the managing director of Guerilla Games. And Death Stranding 2 is actually being built using Guerilla’s Decima Engine. This visit can even be for something of a discussion regarding that game engine, too. The reason for this visit will hopefully be revealed at The Game Awards 2023.

Hideo Kojima has a couple of other projects in the works too!

Besides Death Stranding 2, Hideo Kojima is working on at least two more things. One of them is a horror game for Xbox consoles set in a shared universe. Kojima told IGN, his upcoming project is “almost like a new medium.” Recently, Phil Spencer talked about this title and revealed that the game is still in development. He said that Microsoft is giving Studio the time it requires to realize its vision. This game would reportedly be playable on multiple devices.

A shared universe means players would exist in the same universe and would survive by either helping each other or maybe even causing each other harm. This makes sense too; Kojima has been doing this stuff with all his games since Metal Gear Solid V.

The second project is the upcoming Death Stranding movie. Hideo Kojima partnered with Hammerstone Studios to work on it. He has suggested that he will not be directing the movie. He also revealed that the movie would not be a big-budget blockbuster but a small-budget project more focused on the game’s ideas.

With so much to come from the legendary Director, let’s hope to find out soon what the meeting with Hermen Hulst was about.
