Popular industry scooper Tom Henderson recently dropped a post on social media platform X. While sharing his thoughts on the hype around PS5 Pro and a possible announcement at CES 2024, he wrote that it will be surprising to see “if they (Sony) were to announce a new console 9-10 months from release if that’s the timeline they are still going with.” He, on the other hand, believes PS5 Pro might be revealed during late Q3 period in 2024.
It seems like everyone is hyped that the PS5 Pro might be announced at CES. Personally, I'd be surprised if they were to announce a new console 9-10 months from release if that's the timeline they are still going with. So I'm more inclined to believe a late Q3 announcement.

In short, all the fans who were expecting to see the upgraded hardware in early 2024 may have to wait longer than usual. Going by Tom’s prediction, PS5 Pro might be announced towards the end of September 2024.

Talking about the specs of PS5 Pro, it’s rumored to be a solid improvement over the regular PlayStation 5 model. But certain insiders have suggested it might not be powerful enough for few of the biggest AAA titles, such as Rockstar Games’ GTA 6, releasing in the future.
According to convincing leaks, it’s supposed to have AMD’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The speed is expected to reach a maximum of 4.6 GHz aided by an eight core, 16-thread Zen 2 CPU. Overall, it will be a solid boost of about 27 percent, helped by an impressive GPU upgrade.
The device is said to offer a significant amount of enhanced ray-tracing too. Compared to the existing model, it will give the players more immersive experience when it comes to exploring virtual worlds in different titles. Given the fact that ray-tracing has become a crucial aspect in modern games, it’s seen as a rendering technique that can actually give a realistic lighting effect.

Also, there are rumors predicting about the 8K gaming support as well. Currently, the PS5 offers 4K performance at a nice resolution. On the other hand, PS5 Pro might take things on to a different level with a dedicated ‘performance mode’ for 8K resolution – but not at a whopping frame rate of 120 FPS. That’s something one should definitely not expect it to deliver at all.
