“I Cannot Contain Myself “ – Fans Excited for the Death Stranding Movie as Kojima Productions Collaborates With an Academy Award Winning Studio

Ever since the announcement of the Death Stranding movie adaptation was made back in December 2022, fans have been anticipating its arrival to theaters with bated breath. And why would they not? After all, the game series hit critical acclaim and sold over 16 million copies across platforms like the PS4, PS5, and PC. The experience of a Hideo Kojima game and the face of Norman Reedus took the players by storm.

It’s been around a year since the announcement and there is still no release date for the film. However, a recent update has fans up on their feet again as the game studio Kojima Productions finally broke their silence on the movie’s progress.

What’s the latest update on the movie?

Kojima Productions took to ‘X’ to announce that the game studio will be teaming up with A24, the studio behind Academy Award winning films, for a live-action feature of the video game. More details were given on the Kojima Productions official website.

While the studio didn’t provide any details on the official release date, Hideo Kojima promised to give cinemagoers a “Death Stranding universe that has never been seen before”.

Elaborating on it further, Kojima said, “Now, we are making a Death Stranding movie together. There are a lot of “game adaptation films” out there but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game. The intention is that our audience will not only be fans of the games, but our film will be for anyone who loves cinema.” Instilling high hopes in fans, the studio promised “to delve into the mysteries surrounding the apocalyptic event called the “Death Stranding”. 

Notably, the collaboration announcement was made ahead of the production house’s eighth anniversary on December 16.

With such an exciting update, fans couldn’t contain their elation and took to the comments section to share their enthusiasm.

Fans are hyped for the film adaptation

The update on the film sparked a fire in the hearts of fans and the discussions on X began. Fans were curious as to who would potray the main character in the movie. many speculated that Norman Reedus, the actor who plays Sam in the video game, would make a return as the protagonist in the movie as well.

An excited fan spoke about how this is a big win for the gaming community. Recent film and TV adaptations of video games have been mostly success stories, and taking that into consideration, a Death Stranding adaptation would be remembered for years to come.

Kojima Productions also dropped a T-shirt to mark this collaboration. One fan shared the image of the merch that is being sold to promote the release.

Intrigue about how the world and story would fit in a movie format arose in the comments. The fan also spoke about how this partnership is “huge” for the game.

Even with such little details, fans are extremely excited to see what Kojima Productions has in store. A24 is one of the best studios out there and Kojima’s choice of collaboration speaks volumes.
