A recent Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree rumor is fake

In a recent tweet, Lance McDonald debunked a rumor about the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. He is a known industry insider famous for making the Bloodborne 60 FPS patch. He recently outright said the rumor from a leaker from an outsource studio in Singapore is “not true.” The leaker claimed he made environment assets and many item assets for the DLC.

In the leak, the Singapore-based leaker claimed that the entire game world of Elden Ring is duplicated as a Shadow Realm. Further, he claimed there are warpable spots all over the game and the Shadow Realm is fractured and fragmented. In the Shadow Realm, ErdTree looks different, and the sky is more black. But now all these rumors are not true according to Lance McDonald.

Netizens were already skeptical of this leak, even before Lance shared his opinion on it. But with an industry insider debunking the leak, many netizens have come forward to express their disappointment. However, there is still one rumor that, if true, can send a wave of happiness to Elden Ring fans.

Will the DLC be announced in The Game Awards 2023?

Rumors are circulating online that FromSoftware is going to release the DLC in The Game Awards 2023. The devs have a history of announcing titles during this event. Last year too FromSoftware announced the Colosseum update for the game. This rumor has gained weight from tweets of TGA 2023 organizer Geoff Keighley.

Keighley has confirmed many new IPs and DLCs will be showcased during The Game Awards 2023. This points to a high possibility that the Elden Ring DLC will be announced there.

On the contrary, at the PlayStation partner awards, Elden Ring producer, Yasuhiro Kitao, told GAME watch in a media interview, I will talk about DLC another time. It’s still a little ways off, but progress is going well. Like the “DARK SOULS” series and “Bloodborne,” this game features new battles and new characters. Please look forward to new things.”

Going by Yauhiro Kitao’s comment, it’s safe to say the chances of the DLC featuring at TGA are slim. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
