My Hero Ultra Rumble takes the dynamic world of My Hero Academia and introduces a battle royale element. While making a battle royal with a popular anime series might seem cheesy, this game fits in perfectly as in the Anime, the characters are often put into close spaces to see which team survives.

The game has a great art style but does not perform that well on the Switch as it will have overall low frame rates.

9. F-Zero 99

Nintendo’s foray into the battle royale genre with F99 infuses the spirit of F-Zero into a high-speed race with 99 players. This remake of the classic gives players a limited health bar to survive till the end of the race.

Its racing/survival-style gameplay has made it a must-have for any retro gamers who would like to see how good they still are at the game. Collect golden orbs to fill up the bar to get on the Neon Highway and get ahead in the race, trying to score first.

8. Mario 35

Made for the 35th anniversary of Mario, the game is another battle-royale style game that puts 35 players in a not-so-classic Mario setting. Players can see their opponent’s progress on little screens. As players get eliminated, there are fewer competitors left on the screen.

Once the screen is clear of all other players, the last Mario standing emerges victorious in this engaging multiplayer experience.

 7. Fall Guys

Fall Guys gained popularity for its whimsical take on the battle royale genre. Players control adorable jelly bean-like characters in mini-games with various objectives. Each game gives players a unique challenge and failure to complete it would mean instant elimination.

So get ready for the game with weird physics and see if you are one of the Guys that Falls or stands tall till the end.

6. Disney Speed Storm

The free variant of Mario Kart 8, made by a trustable brand like Disney, this game is the best Kart-style racer to get into. Known characters add to the charm and players can explore some interesting Disney-themed stages.

However, micro-transactions for cosmetics and characters may impact the overall experience as it makes it slightly a pay-to-win title.

5. Overwatch 2

“Overwatch 2” transitioned to a free-to-play model on Nintendo Switch, retaining its flawless controls and 5v5 shooter gameplay. This is probably the most graphically intensive game on the list and it still seems to work for the Nintendo Switch.

Players need to capture objectives while fighting others off in the FPS with superpowers.

4. Nintendo Switch Online (N64 and GBA games)

While this is not a free game, once the Switch Online Subscription is purchased, all the games within it are free. The expansion of Nintendo Switch Online to include N64 and GBA games broadens the gaming library.

Iconic titles such as Mario Party, Zelda, and more offer a nostalgic trip for players, justifying the subscription fee for access to classic games.

3. Realm Royale Reforged

This game represents a revamped version of Fortnite. The game follows a similar art style and also brings in a few new interesting mechanics. Players can collect abilities from around the map, out of which one even gives players the power to fly.

The other unique mechanic in the game is how players don’t get eliminated once they get knocked out of HP. Instead, they transform into chickens. This gives them a chance to still run and find a safe place where their teammates can revive them.

2. Roller Champions

This Ubisoft title gives players rollerskates and asks them to play a game of Basketball. While that might sound odd to some, Rocket League has started to popularize strange concepts in Sports games and this is the prime example.

While players learn to skate while scoring baskets in he the game, it can get quite competitive in the ring. The Switch handles this game perfectly, and it is a visual treat too.

Often overlooked, this game combines elements of League of Legends and Windjammers. Players get to pick from a long list of heroes that are suited for each position. While the game may not have garnered widespread attention, its gameplay mechanics and enjoyable aspects make it a hidden gem for those willing to explore less mainstream titles.

The tight and responsive controls make it a worthy addition to the free game lineup.
