All eyes are on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode. Players have been enjoying this open world extraction-based experience, spending countless hours. Now, according to the Call of Duty team, MWZ has become the best-rated third mode of the last ten years in the franchise.

Zombies finally debuted in the Modern Warfare series with MW3. And looking at the broader picture, MW3 has gotten a widely mixed reception, with heavy criticism directed at its campaign mode. However, the zombies mode has appeared to be a ray of light. Even with a few issues, Modern Warfare Zombies has become a fan-favorite on a different level, going by the words of COD’s General Manager.

Since its highly awaited global debut on November 10, MWZ has been one of the least divisive modes in Activision’s latest FPS premium. While Multiplayer has been riddled with more issues, despite solid improvements, the Zombies mode is something most fans have enjoyed. Initially, they were skeptical of its fate, but after entering the Outbreak zone of Urzikstan, many decided to spend more time in it.

Johanna Faries, General Manager of Call of Duty, recently talked to a media outlet about various aspects of the franchise. She expressed her thoughts on what makes the first-person shooter series stand out compared to other competitors, even after 20 years.

“There’s something about the cultural passion that people hold for Call of Duty, even the most cynical. I’ve been in rooms with people who have been curious about a certain launch or a gameplay feature that they hate, and there’s a lot of passion and flying around and you sit in those rooms,” said Faries.

Interestingly, she also touched upon the situation of how Modern Warfare Zombies has become a go-to option for a lot of players these days. She admitted that MW3’s version of the iconic experience is “a different way to play Zombies. Even the gameplay architecture is different. And so those are the bets you’ve got to take.”

However, while making a big claim, Johanna Faries revealed that Modern Warfare Zombies is probably “the best rated ‘third mode’ in a decade, and I’m not making that up. And you know, we listen, and we see that, so you feel it. And sometimes you can’t always measure it.”

Faries also added that after taking the role of COD’s GM, she saw it as an opportunity to be more clear in the communication with hardcore fans. “This opened up a different way to engage with our community and our players, to really want to listen and take notes”, she told VentureBeat.

Speaking of Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode, it’s currently available as part of a Free Access Period. New players who want to join the franchise can try the paid content until December 18, 2023.
