This year, however, it has become a whole different story. And in the core of the story lie two distinct celebs – MrBeast and Taylor Swift.

While Taylor Swift is known for her musical prowess, MrBeast has earned a name for himself for being a philanthropist. But these two icons coming from two separate fields were competing together for TIME’s Person of The Year title. Now Taylor Swift has been recognized as Person of the year. And not all MrBeast fans agree.

After a neck-to-neck battle, juries selected Taylor Swift as TIME’s Person of The Year 2023. This year has been nothing short of spectacular for the female singer. Her Eras Tour is set to become the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. But netizens believe MrBeast was robbed of the title despite the work he did.

People on the internet have pointed that MrBeast’s philanthropic work should’ve earned him the win. Building numerous wells in Africa, curing people’s disabilities, and giving away money for charity throughout the year has still not earned MrBeast the title. Further, many fans can’t wrap the fact around their head that MrBeast also lagged behind Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping on the list.

However, fans have not taken into consideration that philanthropy is not the sole metric for deciding TIME’s Person of The Year. The set of juries judge people based on how much influence they have on the world in a single year. But the views of the community still look divided, and many fans have taken to the internet to voice them.

While many fans were hoping their favorite YouTuber would win the title, they still shared that Taylor Swift deserved to win. A netizen even claimed, “he hasn’t worked as hard as she has.”

Another fan claimed cited Taylor Swift’s global popularity, implying MrBeast may not be having that.

On the other hand, a portion of fans believe MrBeast is the people’s champion. A fan said, “MrBeast deserves that award coz he impacted the world more than Taylor.”

One fan is so taken by MrBeast’s work, he feels the YouTuber should be handed the win even in future years.

But a major segment of netizens believe MrBeast and Taylor Swift both deserve the top spot. A fan cheekily suggested a “50/50 toss-up” to determine a winner.
