The anticipation was sparked by a cryptic tweet from a well-known industry insider, sending Nintendo enthusiasts into a frenzy as they attempted to decipher the hidden clues. Among the myriad fan theories circulating, some credible sources propose that the enigmatic tweet could be a subtle hint at an upcoming ‘Classic Zelda Remake.’

The Legend of Zelda is one of the most celebrated gaming franchises of all time. The Nintendo franchise has been firmly in the business for three decades now. Despite having such a long campaign, it still manages to appeal to gaming fans. Tears of the Kingdom, the 2023 Nintendo epic, was just another testament to the ‘Zelda legacy’. As the excitement builds, the burning question remains: how much truth is there to this speculative theory?

Recently, an infamous industry scooper took to their X account and made the most cryptic post. They wrote, C ZR 2024.”  To the casual gamer, this might appear as a random assortment of letters and numbers with no apparent link to an upcoming video game project.

However, there’s a twist in the tale. Seasoned Nintendo enthusiasts are no strangers to decoding such mysterious tweets, especially when it comes to Zelda projects. This latest coded message follows a pattern reminiscent of past encrypted leaks related to TLOZ titles, which, upon deciphering, unveiled direct hints towards significant forthcoming releases.

The most common deduction fans have made from the tweet is that Nintendo has planned a Classic Zelda Remake release in 2024. For context, C in the code stands for Classic, Z for Zelda, and R for Remake, the theory claims. Also, another intriguing speculation alleges that C in the code may also mean Capcom integration for the Zelda Remake!

2024 could be the first year in recent memory without a Zelda release, breaking a trend of almost yearly releases that has characterized the franchise in recent years. However, there hasn’t been any official nod towards this or any of these claims. But if the rumors are to be trusted, fans aren’t far away from an official announcement.

Another popular industry leaker had taken to their social media and posted an encrypted code, Z R 2023,” which they deleted later. The fact that a Zelda live-action movie was announced hours after the tweet adds incredible value to the ongoing theories.

Jeff Grubb, a renowned industry insider, had also posted a tease about Nintendo planning a series of Zelda content post Tears of the Kingdom. It is unknown if the latter was referring to the live-action movie announcement or the series of remakes. But rumors suggest that  Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remasters could be released for the Switch in 2024. The focus on a live-action movie adaptation may also be a reason for delaying the next Zelda game’s development.

The Switch parent later recently released two Legend of Zelda classics: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages for Nintendo Switch online. So, it won’t be surprising if the developers come up with another classic remake for the year 2024. Players can never get enough of Zelda, can they?
