While the world awaits GTA 6, let’s not forget that time flies. And the expectations from the game are higher than ever. And why wouldn’t it be? Every GTA game has one upped its predecessor. But GTA V was a huge leap from GTA IV. And that was a whole decade ago. Since then, the PS4 came, had its time and went. And we’re surely halfway or close to halfway in the PS5’s lifecycle, which just happens to be the most powerful console till date. So no doubt GTA 6 will look great, taking advantage of the full power of the PlayStation 5, but it will take a lot more to truly live up to the hype.

Rockstar Games is known to deliver their games in pristine condition. They always end up being worth all the hype and waiting. As per their previous works, they would also make it a point to add some innovative new gameplay mechanics to this game. But new isn’t necessarily better. Sometimes, they are looking for the familiar. While fans eagerly wait to find out what new GTA 6 will bring to the franchise, the developers need to bring back these 6 features.

6 gameplay mechanics that will be a real throwback and the game will be better off having

     1. Work-out mechanics

In GTA San Andreas, players were able to run through the map, not eat anything, and literally see their characters get slim. CJ lost his weight, and he got weak, too. NPCs even commented on how frail he looked. And when he worked out, he became jacked. Players could turn their CJ into a literal bodybuilder who could easily deal with enemies just by punching them a couple of times. Finally, if players liked tormenting their CJ, they could even just go ahead and just make CJ eat and eat and make him overweight.

That’s the kind of freedom GTA 6 needs. Let the players shape the character they want. Some of these aspects were in Red Dead Redemption 2, but seeing them in their full glory in GTA 6 would be something else.

     2. Vehicle Customization

Driving is the central mechanic of every GTA game. They can make a game without a story, but they cannot make one without cars. And when a game has cars, players expect it to have car customization too. Now that GTA 5 has car customization, players can change the looks and performance of their vehicles in great detail. But they still could not take it to the level of games like San Andreas and even Saints Row.

This time they have the technology and a lot of inspiration; maybe they can allow players to create rocket-powered vehicles.

     3. Gun Skills

In GTA 5, when players used guns more, they got better at shooting. In GTA San Andreas, when players practiced with their guns, they increased their skill levels. As they increase their skill levels, they get better at aiming weapons, their rate of fire increases, and they can even strafe using some weapons.

This kind of stuff needs to be in GTA 6. As mentioned above, GTA 5’s skill thing worked, but if these things get more detailed, it would only mean players would have some more stuff to put their time into.

     4. Trafficking

GTA Chinatown Wars is a very small game when compared to its mainline siblings. It was released on handheld consoles like the DSi and the PSP. And it had overhead visuals like classic GTA games. But this does not mean it had a shortage of innovative ideas. One of them was that incredible dr*g-running game. Players bought stuff, waited for the prices to go up or down, and sold it accordingly, a feature true to what you’d expect in a franchise called Grand Theft Auto.

Using this minigame, players could earn an unsurmountable amount of money in that game. A similar mechanic would do wonders in GTA 6. As there are rumors that Rockstar Games will add the fictional version of Cuba to the map of GTA 6 this time, this mechanic looks even more plausible. Let’s see if Rockstar Games does the obvious or not.

     5. More dynamic destruction

People loved the way GTA 4 looked; of course, it looked incredible. That was the game that started the HD era of the GTA series. Realistic visuals, realistic gameplay mechanics, and realistic destruction mechanics. But the cars that drove like boats and the clunky combat were a turn-off. Now, fans wonder: what if they brought back that incredible destruction from GTA 4 and kept the smooth combat mechanics of GTA 5?

This combination would surely make for a far better-looking game. Maybe they would make destruction even better? Let’s see what direction they go this time around.

     6. Better hand-to-hand combat

Now, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are incredible games. They have insanely well-designed gunplay and some really detailed visuals. But hand-to-hand combat in these games is as basic as it gets. It has no depth at all. To say that GTA San Andreas had far better combat would not be an overstatement.

Players had stances; all the developers had to do was combine the combat in RDR 2 with that of Sand Andreas, and they would no doubt have a winning combination.
