The early previews for the new Prince of Persia are out and have already fueled the hype built around the Ubisoft project. The expectations were already set high, but with some promising early previews, the buzz around the game couldn’t get any better. Moreover, after the developers unveiled the campaign size, it has the fans wondered what else they could expect from the innovative side-scroller. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Single-player campaign is 35 hours long or less if you don’t focus on exploration.

The fact the size of the campaign is double that of Assassin’s Creed Mirage makes you even more invested. Ubisoft’s last AC installment Mirage being another celebrated gaming homecoming, was around 15 hours in length. Comparing these numbers with The Lost Crown is especially interesting, considering it’s a 2.5D side scroller.

When compared to the previous Prince of Persia installments, the number is incredible.  The last major entry, The Forgotten Sands offered no more than 10-10.5 hours, that too for completionists.

Also, coming back to what the early previews of the game suggest, this new Prince of Persia title might be everything the fans needed for the long-lost revival.

From all the gameplay reveals Ubisoft made for the next Prince of Persia project, it was certain the developers were coming heavy. In fact, in a lot of aspects, the visuals felt like a huge leap from current industry standards of side-scrolling adventures. It is expected to take a delightful new turn thanks to its more stylized appearance and embrace of Persian mythology. Early gameplay teases for The Lost Crown suggest that it may also revolutionize the side-scrolling game narrative.

The game, as promised, will run on 60fps even on Nintendo Switch. The visuals might not be something extraordinary to the fans, but the Ubisoft creation impresses in combat and storytelling. Not to mention, the cinematic cutscenes used in the game add on to the pacing of the narrative. For combat, the project is being hailed as the big ‘winner’. For instance, IGN’s preview report states, “The Lost Crown is no joke in the combat department. It harkens back to the original Prince of Persia in that regard. Right from the jump, the bad guys here come out swinging – swords, polearms, and plenty of other weapons – and you’ll need to be quick to parry attacks.”
