For the hardcore SEGA fans, the wait is finally coming to an end. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to be released in late 2024 and serves as a sequel to the previous Sonic films and the upcoming Knuckles TV show. Now, in a recent update, fans have been able to get a glimpse of the newest character to be introduced in the movie franchise, with everyone’s favorite antihero making an appearance.

While the picture didn’t reveal too much of the character, a lot of focus went to his iconic shoes.

Three movies, Shadow takes the stage in Sonic the Hedgehog 3

While everyone is excited to see their favorite blue speedster, the character Shadow is said to be making a debut in the movie. This news has received significant traction as Shadow has always been a fan-favorite character.

In a recent post on Twitter, the first image of Shadow was finally revealed. Although the character’s face is hidden, his shoes are still enough of a hint at his coming appearance. Covered with a ring as an anklet, Shadow is expected to play a major role in the upcoming movie.

The movie is nearing its release but the voice actor for Shadow has still not been revealed. There are some speculations as to who could be playing the dark character in the movie, but nothing has been confirmed so far.

Looking back at the Sonic movies lore so far

In the first movie, Sonic the Hedgehog escapes to Earth. After unintentionally causing a blackout, he drew the attention of the U.S. government. Dr. Robotnik, who is played by Jim Carrey, finds Sonic and tries to use his power for evil.  Sonic joins forces with police officer Tom Wachowski to embark on a road trip to collect rings to help Sonic escape Earth.

The second movie gives more on the story of Sonic the Hedgehog. Having settled in Green Hills, Sonic eagerly seeks to prove his heroism. His mettle is tested when Dr. Robotnik, accompanied by a new partner, Knuckles, tries to hunt him down. Sonic returns in pursuit of a mystical emerald with the power to annihilate civilizations. Sonic, joined by his sidekick Tails, takes action and initiates a globe-trotting journey to locate the emerald before it can be misused.

As fans patiently wait for Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and the reveal of Shadow in the film, the story continues to give more background on each character.
