If you think 2023 was as big as it got for gamers, wait till you see for 2024 has in store. Sure, 2023 was massive. Gamers were treated to some a historic lineup with the likes of the 2023 GOTY, Baldurs Gate 3, record-breaking Spider-Man 2, another horror masterpiece, Alan Wake 2, and this is just the tip of a very huge iceberg. And yet, 2024 could top this.

In January, studios like Bandai Namco and Ubisoft have some highly anticipated titles coming out. Along with the AAA titles, fans will also get to see games from newer studios like Crimson Herring Studios and Slipgate Ironworks. So let’s dive into the 10 best games coming out in January 2024.

1. Sovereign Syndicate

Sovereign Syndicate is a Victorian steampunk cRPG inspired by games like Baldur’s Gate and Divinity Original Sin. In this game, players can choose from three playable characters: Atticus Daley, Clara Reed, and Otto, and embark on a journey that entwines their stories.

The game will introduce a unique tarot card system that helps decide the outcomes of battles. Players will be able to upgrade their character using skill points and a new etiquette system. Another interesting feature is that the game will change the narrative depending on the looks, gameplay style and choices players make while playing.

The game will release on January 15, 2024, and it will be available on the PC.

2. Arclands

In the strategy simulation RPG, players will control a banished wizard navigating the treacherous Arclands—a collection of islands filled with magic-hungry monsters. Players will establish and fortify their village, level up their character and learn spells to defend against foes. Further, one will get to explore the islands for rare resources and magical artifacts, which can be displayed on altars with unique effects.

Players can recruit banished refugees to grow their community, and even if one’s city falls, players can rescue followers and resources, gain experience, and rebuild.

Arclands offers a dynamic RPG experience, combining village building, defense, exploration, and uncovering deep mysteries within the magical realm. While the steam release date is not yet known, it will release on windows and MacOS.

3. Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown

After 13 years of waiting for a new Prince of Persia game, Ubisoft is finally ready to give the fans what they have been craving for. After the last game, The Forgotten Sands, Ubisoft had stalled work on any Prince of Persia title and turned their focus on the Assassin’s Creed series. But Prince of Persia is back by popular demand. Players will get to enjoy the new 2.5D side-scrolling game reminiscent of the original games. This time, players take on the role of Sargon and travel to the cursed city of Mount Qaf to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan. The game will be out on Jan 15, 2024. It will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.

4. The Last of Us Part II Remastered

The 2020 Game of the Year winner (TGA) is on the list too. While it’s over 3 years old, Naughty Dog is releasing a PS5 remaster. This PlayStation Exclusive has won the hearts of fans with the story of Ellie and Abby. Now it will be back to take advantage of the power of the PS5.

As for content, it will offer players No Return, a rogelike survival mode with randomized encounters, where players can play as various characters, including Joel, Tommy, Ellie, Abby, Mel, Leva and more. It will also feature missions that were cut from the final release. This will serve to give players a look behind the scenes. All this will be available as a $10 upgrade for players who already own the game.

5. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Ace Attorney is a series that dates back to 2001. The game is famous for giving birth to the Courtroom battle genre of text adventure games. The Trilogy brings together the original game, Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice all in one pack. Players get to explore through the years of Capcoms work from the time Apollo Justice worked on it to the time they passed the torch to Pheonix Wright. The digital version of the game will be available on the Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on January 25.

6. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a new RPG that will release on January 26 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Series X/S. The game is a sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Players get to play as the Yakuza protagonist Ichiban Kasuga who is joined by Kazuma Kiryu. The game features a unique and captivating turn based combat system with some eye-catching characters and a dark storyline based around the gangsters of Japan.

7. Tekken 8

Tekken 8 is the newest upcoming game in the famous fighting series by Bandai Namco. Known to be one of the most advanced fighting games, Tekken 8 will continue the story of Jin Kazama and his family vendetta, which involves bears and octopuses getting involved in the battle. Players will get to experience iconic characters like King, Kazuya and Yoshimitsu and see who will be the king of the Iron Fist tournament this time. The game will release on 26 January. It will be available on the PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.

8. Graven

Slipgate Ironworks’ upcoming FPS gives players an open-ended journey with the game launch with three regions. Players will set on quests while upgrading their characters while playing as the faithful priest of the Orthogonal order. Exiled for retaliating against the order, the priest embarks on a quest armed with a mysterious staff and book, navigating a swamp to hunt heretical sects responsible for twisting seasons and conjuring plagues in the pursuit of redemption. The game is set to be out on January 23 and will be available for the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

9. The Quinfall

In this game, players can journey through the expansive Quinfall universe, an MMORPG that offers a rich narrative and diverse battles set in a medieval world. With a colossal open-world map spanning 2016km2, players traverse five distinct regions, each with its own climate, dynamic seasons, and day-night cycle.

Engage in non-target combat dynamics and experience PvP-PvE battles, including thrilling ship clashes, island skirmishes, and castle sieges. Choose from dozens of professions and nine weapon systems, shaping your adventure with a luck-free equipment crafting system and dynamic trade opportunities. Personalize your character extensively, delving into the intricate backstories of the main characters and unraveling the mysteries behind gods like Pelyonas.

10. Portal Revolution

Portal: Revolution, a fan-made mod for Portal 2, unfolds a narrative set before the events of Portal 2 within the desolate Aperture facility. With over 40 new puzzles, including resurrected elements like the “Pneumatic Diversity Vent” and a new laser cube variant, the campaign introduces innovative test elements while maintaining a difficulty level accessible to all players. The story, taking place between Portal and Portal 2, follows a test subject awakened by the personality sphere Stirling, embarking on a mission to restore Aperture to its former glory. This game mode will be out on January 6.
