The ongoing year took the TV adaptation trend of iconic video games to a whole new level. From Twisted Metal to The Last of Us Series, there are plenty of creations that keep content lovers stuck to their screens. In fact, the game adaptations were also celebrated on the silver screen with the likes of Super Mario Bros. movie and Gran Turismo. So, when all these had received a nomination for The Game Awards 2023 Best Adaptation, you knew the race was going to be intense. And now, we have a winner.

Very few projects of the busy gaming X cinema adaptations manage to stay with the community for long. Moreover, for a year that’s been so busy with such inspiring gaming content, the race for the best is as tough as it can get. But some creations are beyond the realms of competition. Our winner of The Game Awards 2023 Best Adaptation is one such masterpiece. You might have guessed it already. It’s another win for the HBO classic!

The Last Us continues to dominate

There’s no denying the fact that The Last of Us as a brand has been a strong critical success. The idea of the characters Joel-Ellie finding purpose in the post-apocalyptic nightmare has resonated well with the audience. Naughty Dog’s masterpiece now has another feather to its cap. The TV Series adaptation bagged The Best Adaptation for 2023, and not to the surprise of many.

The Last of Us and The Game Awards have quite a phenomenal history together. Emerging as a winner among such big names certainly testifies to the hype built around the TV Series. In fact, the critical acclaim of the show was already teased when the project received over 20 nominations for the prestigious Emmy Awards. These nominations also included the best lead performers for the character of Joel and Ellie.

The last of us is no stranger to TGA. TLOU 2 also won Game of the year in 2020.

With TLOU making to the headlines again, the buzz around Season 2 of the show as expected came back in the trends. So, where is TLOU Season 2?

HBO has already confirmed a launched window for Season 2 

Following the SAG- AFTRA strikes, there was thankfully a lot more clarity on how season 2 would proceed. Even during the strike, the show creators had confirmed that as soon as the strikes were over, they would resume production as they were ready with the script.

The production of the upcoming season of HBO’s The Last of Us is scheduled to begin in February 2024, with launch window in 2025. The “One to Watch” promo for TLOU Season 2 featured Max confirming the release window. Fans have further cause for celebration as the Naughty Dog adaptation making an appearance in 2025 are among a number of other games, such as The White Lotus and Euphoria.

While the world has been awaiting an update on Season 2 of HBO’s The Last Of Us Series, its debut season brought another medal home. Unarguably, one of the best screen adaptations of any game in the history of gaming!
