The Game Awards 2023: Geoff Keighley Drops an Incredible Trailer Featuring Some of the Best Games From the Nominees List!

It’s a year that keeps on giving. Gamers can’t catch a break. Be it games, consoles, or accessories, the year has seen everything. And now that it’s December, it’s that time of the year. And no, we’re not talking about Christmas. The Game Awards 2023 is just one day away, and the anticipation is at an all-time high. One more day till the world finds out who will take home the prestigious Game of the Year award. With so many amazing titles being nominated for TGA 2023, everyone is waiting for the event at the edge of their seats.

There is no doubt that the event is going to be grand. Like every year, this time too, TGA will not only recognize games for various achievements but also provide a stage for major announcements and game reveals. Geoff Keighley, the founder and host of the event, recently dropped a trailer on his social media handle, teasing the upcoming event. What’s in this trailer, you ask?

Geoff Keighley released the trailer of the upcoming TGA across his social channels. The trailer is a beautiful montage of some iconic moments from games and shows this year, each skillfully edited to give a round-up of the year’s best content. He uploaded the trailer on Twitter and captioned it, “Thursday night, The Game Awards is live!” The caption further read, “It’s the story of the never-ending — yet optimistic — quest we go on in games, and in life, to conquer challenges to find a way forward, together.”

The montage consists of clips from AAA titles, Indie games and TV/Movie adaptations. The trailer featured games like Mortal Kombat 1, Resident Evil 4, Diablo IV, Spider-Man 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. There were also moments from the live-action adaptation of Last of US the TV show. Some footage was taken from the Super Mario Bro. the movie too.

Towards the end of the video, you can see Bowser scream his catchphrase, “Now Who’s Gonna Stop Me!” Which is apt if you look back at the year and all that the gaming industry has delivered. No matter what console you prefer, what genre of gaming you prefer, 2023 delivered everything from Action Adventures to FPS to survival horror to sports. And of course, the year is far from over with the GTA 6 trailer that’s almost upon us. But that’s a topic for another time.

While the trailer featured scenes and dialogues from many of the biggest games this year, another thing that caught everyone’s attention was the soundtrack. The Game Awards 2023 is scheduled to start on Thursday, December 7, at 4:30 pm (PST) for the West Coast, 6:30 pm (CST) for the Central US, and 7:30 pm (EST) for the East Coast.

The event will happen at the Los Angeles Peacock Theater.

  • Where to watch

As most fans will be watching the event online, the ceremony will be broadcast live across YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok.

  • Nominees

During the event, The Game Awards will present various awards. Among the popular categories, they will honor outstanding achievements in Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Performance and more.
