All eyes are on Rockstar Games. The developers seem to have brought their A game as usual in making GTA 6 a great release. While players all over the world are waiting for its upcoming trailer, they will also hope to get it on their supported platforms upon its release. On that front, it’s all good. Alongside consoles, the open-world installment will also arrive on PC. However, there’s bad news for those interested in experiencing the AAA extravaganza on their computers.

It seems developer Rockstar Games is ending support of its software and games on several Windows-based operating systems. At least that’s what few players on the internet have recently discovered. Going by a Reddit post, PC users with older versions of Windows need to make some necessary changes.

Sometimes small things tend to go unnoticed and most of the players don’t end up taking them seriously. But recently, an individual on Reddit came up with a surprising post while mentioning Rockstar Games and the transitions it may introduce in the next few months.

While dropping the post on the social platform, this Redditor revealed that they have received an important notification pop-up on their computer while trying to play games from Rockstar. Apparently, it looks like the developer is soon going to end supporting its games on specific versions of Windows on PC.

According to the Reddit user, players using Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 right now need to make a move to Windows 10. This is the exact message which was delivered from the studio: “Rockstar PC titles will no longer support Windows 7,8, and 8.1 operating systems starting 30th January 2024.”

Rockstar Games had recently clarified this themselves. In response to a question on Rockstar support, they said, “In light of Microsoft’s end of support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems, Rockstar Games will no longer officially support these operating systems beginning January 30, 2024. To prevent any future interruptions of service and ensure continued access to the latest platform features, we recommend Windows 7 and 8 users upgrade to a supported operating system as soon as possible”, read the statement from the studio last month.

There’s nothing surprising about this move, though. With the upgrade in requirements to support the latest games, the latest hardware and software is a must. In a similar move a couple of years ago, they ended GTA online for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in December 2021.

What to expect from the GTA 6 trailer releasing on December 5?

Currently, hardcore fans are curiously waiting for the anticipated trailer. Rockstar had initially shared an official update on it last month. Shortly after that, the studio recently came out on social media to drop the trailer date.

Speaking of the expected content in the trailer, there’s still no clarity regarding that. The makers have kept all the details under wraps so far. Rumours have suggested the game will feature two protagonists. Further, rumours and leaks also hinted at a return to Vice City, which many are believing based on the visual in the social media post revealing the trailer date. However, as nothing is officially confirmed yet, fans will have to wait for the trailer.

Meanwhile, players have to make an upgrade to Windows 10 before January 30, 2024. Unsurprisingly, older software versions will be left behind as the world moves on to better and more powerful software and hardware versions.
