Kaitlyn Dever is officially the Abby of The Last of Us Season 2. The news is already all over the internet, spreading like wildfire since it was initially revealed. On top of that, the two main showrunners of the blockbuster, Emmy-winning TV series have showered praising words on the actress even before she joins all the cast members.

For the past few months, the rumor of Kaitlyn Dever being Abby was doing rounds on the internet. However, it wasn’t confirmed until recently. Now that fans know who the face of Abby is, they will surely expect nothing less than a fabulous performance. It’s also what all other actors have done in the first season, thus making it more than just a live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s iconic video game franchise.

Kaitlyn Dever will be the perfect Abby in HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2

Shortly after Kaitlyn Dever was revealed as Abby for The Last of Us Season 2, the showrunners expressed their thoughts. Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin are the two driving forces who know what works best for their show. Probably that’s the reason their decision to have Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie worked wonders for the first season of HBO’s TV series.

“Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material,” said Neil and Craig after Kaitlyn Dever was announced as Abby.

Simply put, the showrunners are convinced that Kaitlyn will deliver in every way possible as far as doing justice to Abby’s character is concerned. “Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family”, as reported by news website Variety.

What did Kaitlyn Dever do before The Last of Us?

For the uninitiated, Kaitlyn Dever has proved her acting prowess in multiple shows and movies. She originally gained recognition for her role in FX’s crime drama TV series Justified. Before Justified, however, she portrayed numerous roles in other shows as well. To name a few, she was seen in An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong, Modern Family, Party Down, and Cinema Verite.

In 2019, she gained a wide acclaim with her role of Marie Adler in Netflix’s miniseries Unbelievable. Viewers and critics were impressed by the show as well as Kaitlyn’s performance. On review aggregating website Rotten Tomatoes, it’s still got a phenomenal score of 98 percent. It was such a big success that Kaitlyn even got a Golden Globe nomination in the category of Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film.

Most recently, the actress was seen in Hulu’s Dopesick. In the miniseries, Kaitlyn Dever once again displayed her talent with the portrayal of Betsy Mellum’s character. Not to mention that she ended up getting a Golden Globe nomination in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Series/Miniseries or Television Film.

Surprisingly, Kaitlyn was also seen in Naughty Dog’s another famous video games series Uncharted. Back in 2016, the actress played Cassie Drake – daughter of popular protagonist Nathan Drake – in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Kaitlyn did the voice and motion capture performance for Cassie.
