When the GTA 6 trailer dropped, it immediately became the most trending news on the internet. The video broke world records for the most-viewed video within 24 hours. The game is set to be released in 2025 and with that many fans have questions running through their heads. One of the main questions is whether the game will run on less powerful consoles or not.

The Xbox series X and S were launched back in November 2020.  With the Series X working much better than the Series S, many gamers are wondering will the specs still hold up in 2025. Spectators expressed concerns about the Xbox Series S’s capability to handle the heavy GTA 6 game. An official post on the GTA 6 subreddit highlights how Rockstar might address this issue.

The Series S is the lower-powered version of the newest Xbox console. Although the series X and S were released at the same time, there are some major differences between the two. The series X comes with 12 Teraflops processing power while the series S comes with only 4. The way Rockstar Games is working around the difference in power is by limiting the assets that are brought to the screen and it seems like Rockstar will have a visual barrier that prevents NPCs from spawning beyond it.

By heavily controlling the spawn rate of NPCs, Rockstar Games is planning on making the game easier to render on the Xbox Series S. While this console is still one of the best offerings that Microsoft has to offer, it falls behind its older version, the Series X. Another method that Rockstar will be using is by making divided sectors on the map that will decide what areas of the game load.

This will help the constant rendering that the game needs, to have seamless open-world experiences. While still promising a seamless experience for fans, it’s important to note that the Series S will load fewer NPCs and assets to match the device’s handling capacity.
