If you’re one of the many players who didn’t know about a serial killer in GTA 5, it’s never too late. GTA 5 is known for endless easter eggs and dark mysteries. In the last decade, players have come across many instances that have led to unexpected encounters. However, the biggest talking point across the community has been the Infinity Killer mystery in the game. But it’s not limited to the Grand Theft Auto universe itself from Rockstar Games. And it won’t be a surprise if it continues to exist in the next big installment, GTA 6.

But what’s so deeply unique about the Infinity Killer mystery? Well, it’s not a self-contained one as one may see it. The threads connect to the Mount Chiliad myth and even other titles from Rockstar Games, such as RDR! This article will try to explain this unsolved secret while speculating about its next phase in GTA 6.

There’s a scorched house located in the Sandy Shores town in GTA 5, near the Mount Chiliad. Here, there’s a writing painted in blood and it reads, “There will be 8” alongside a secret symbol. On the other side of the house is another bloody message. And it goes like this: “Go away Merle Abrahams You’re a Wrong.” Not to mention that it’s also surrounded by an 8. Further, there are some jars too in this house that are filled with what appears to be decapitated body parts of victims who were killed mysteriously. Another message reading “8 is just Infinity stood up” can be seen on the wall inside.

Not far from this house is a newspaper clipping. It features a headline that reads: Suspected Killer Merle Abrahams Dies in Prison. According to the news piece, Merle Abrahams was a serial killer who was suspected to be responsible for the Infinity Murders – a series of disappearances that began several years ago. And that the police believed the 8 victims were all single young men. They were murdered by the same person while jogging. There were circumstantial evidences linking the murders with Merle Abrahams. However, the bodies were never found and although Abrahams never confessed his crime; he did have a weird obsession with number 8.

However, upon further observation by curious players, it was later found that the killer threw the bodies of all eight missing victims into the water body, located near a specific area on the map. Well, this location was actually conveyed by the aforementioned secret symbol.

But that’s not the end of the Infinity Killer mystery saga. In fact, it goes beyond while connecting the dots with 2008’s GTA 4.

How is the infinity killer mystery connected to GTA 4?

This game had a minor character called Eddie Low, who first met the protagonist Niko in a shady alley. He asked Niko to drop him near a certain place to send his friend. Later, it was found that he threw a dead body into the water of a terminal, as reported by the in-game news channel, Weazel News.

It was later revealed that Eddie was a combination of every possible serial killer stereotype rolled into one. But how’s he linked to the Infinity Murders of GTA 5? When he met Niko for the second time in GTA 4, he told him that he killed someone who was jogging – ringing any bells? Yes, Eddie Low also killed joggers. The newspaper clipping found near the house in Sandy Shores had a similar description, too, about the victims – they were all joggers.

The Red Dead Redemption connection of GTA’s Infinity Serial Killer mystery

In 2018’s RDR2, protagonist Arthur goes on to investigate a serial killer during a mission. Guess what? This killer also used to decapitate his victims – similar to the aforementioned incidents. And if that appears to be just a coincidence, there was a specific message found on a rock that read, “I don’t understand imnfinity.” Interestingly, the handwriting of this message was similar to that of GTA 5’s Infinity Killer.

However, the most obvious piece of information that clearly connects the serial killer and Eddie Low is a newspaper clipping from RDR2. It revealed that there was a person named Edmund who apparently killed running athletes – we can find their bodies in-game. Edmund hated runners, once again similar to Eddie’s and the serial killer’s disliking for joggers. So what’s the big deal? Well, Edmund’s full name is Edmund Lowry Jr. or simply Edmund Low. If shortened further, say a nickname, then Eddie Low.

Based on these inevitable hints, one can assume that since the days of Red Dead Redemption 2’s timeline (1899), the Lowry family hated those who dared to jog. Thus, they had started a multi-generational tradition of killing them. Four generations later, in 1999, Eddie Low ended up making waves in the town of Sandy Shores, committing the Infinity murders. But it looks like he either threatened or coerced Merle Abrahams in taking the accountability for his crimes. Later, in GTA 4 Niko killed Eddie in a knife fight. But was is it the end?

In 2015, when GTA 5 was released for PC, players were able to extract more files based on its gameplay elements. After making worthy efforts, keen modders learned more about the aforementioned eight victims found in the water body. Written on their bodies was 8. This finding confirmed that these bodies were also connected to the Infinity murders.

Still, what no one could understand was the fact not all the victims were male (as confirmed by the newspaper clipping near the house in Sandy Shores). There was a female, too, thanks to the modders who got to know this detail.

Infinity murders and Mount Chiliad

Now comes the most interesting part of this entire puzzle. Many people have speculated that the Infinity eight mystery is connected to the mural on Mount Chiliad. In GTA 4, there’s a website called ‘Whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com’. It can be accessed only when the full story is completed. It features cheat sheet maps for some of the collectible quests. Now, one of the maps is posted by none other than Eddie Low; it’s titled ‘Fun With Friends’.

The description of this map indicates that this is where Eddie marked the location of the people that he killed. But how’s it all connected to the Mount Chiliad mystery?

The website ‘Whattheydonotwantyoutoknow’ isn’t easily accessible upon searching for the in-game browser ‘eyefind’. To see it, one has to type the full link directly or wait until the story is finished. Eventually, an email is received from a stranger with a link to the site. Shockingly, this stranger’s username is ‘Chiliad8888’. That’s how many fans have assumed that there’s a bigger connection between the Infinity Serial killer mystery and Mount Chiliad.

The lore behind this secret – going back and forth between GTA and RDR titles – is what makes it extremely exciting. And this one’s still far from being solved. So, what’s next?

Going by Rockstar Games’ track record of deliberately leaving hints related to Infinity Serial killer storyline across GTA and RDR games, it’s obvious that the mystery will continue in GTA 6.

Although it’s just speculation for now, GTA 6 could feature the return of the Infinity murders. Maybe either of the two protagonists (Lucia and Jason) will come across locations connected with this story. Perhaps a side mission or a special quest after finishing the main campaign will reward the players to discover something unexpected. Or we could solve the mystery. We have to wait for GTA 6 to release to see what Rockstar Games has planned.
