In today’s match, World Number 25, Garbine Muguruza had poor control over her service games and Alison Riske pulled off her first win at US Open over the past six years. Riske bounced back from a set down trail in today’s opener, and in 2013, she reached the fourth round of the American Slam.

Before entering the New York major, Garbine Muguruza had a poor run on the WTA track she parted ways with her coach Sam Sumyk right after she lost her opening round at Wimbledon 2019.
