The two-time Grand Slam champion, Garbine Muguruza had a dreadful time at Wimbledon Championships 2019, as she suffered a straight-sets loss to Brazilian qualifier, Beatriz Haddad Maia. The Spaniard WTA ace has now pulled out from the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose, California due to an injury in her leg.

“I am so disappointed to have to pull out of San Jose,” Garbine Muguruza said. “Unfortunately my leg is not ready to compete and I am doing everything I can to be back on the court and healthy. I am sorry to have to miss San Jose and wish the tournament a great week.”

Last year, the aggressive-hitter, Garbine Muguruza was top-seeded at the San Jose event and she was drawn to open against Victoria Azarenka, but due to a right arm injury, the former World Number one withdrew from Silicon Valley Classic in 2018. Previously, in the year 2014, Muguruza was a doubles champion in the premier tournament of San Jose and back then she teamed up with Carla Suarez Navarro.

A few weeks ago, Garbine Muguruza parted ways with her coach Sam Sumyk and with him, she won French Open and Wimbledon titles and achieved the top ranking in her career. This year, she has claimed the title at Monterrey Open and Victoria Azarenka retired in the midst of the title match in Mexico. Besides that, she hasn’t advanced into semifinals of any of the tournaments in 2019.

World Number 27, Muguruza is expected to be present at the US Open series tournaments, namely, Rogers Cup and Cincinnati Open. Last she could collectively win one match in both her the tournaments and she flew to New York as a 12th seed but over there she lost in the second round to Karolina Muchova.

This year, at Silicon Valley Classic, the 2017 finalist, Coco Vandeweghe makes her return to the WTA circuit in San Jose after a prolonged hiatus from tennis due to an ankle injury and Venus Williams will be taking a wildcard for the San Jose tournament.
