Spanish tennis player Garbine Muguruza is set to play in the Miami Open starting on Monday. However, according to Tennis Hall of Fame media panelist, Michal Samulski, she will be teaming up with Barcelona FC and Spanish football legend Carles Puyol. The event in question is a tennis/football challenge.

Muguruza had a fairly disappointing Indian Wells performance, losing in the quarterfinals to Canada’s Bianca Andreescu. She was hammered, 6-0, 6-1 by the 18-year old, who will face Angelique Kerber in the final. However, she won’t be too disheartened as she managed to defeat a number of big players en route to the semifinals. He victims included, Kiki Bertens, Serena Williams and Lauren Davis.

Spanish football legend Carles Puyol announced his retirement from football back in 2014 shortly after leaving the Barcelona team. Recently, the 40-year old was in Karachi to watch the Pakistan Super League (PSL) finale. He was also there to promote World Soccer Star matches to the nation.

In the meantime, the Miami Open is expected to commence on Monday with Muguruza in attendance. A number of big players will be playing in the second leg of the Sunshine Double. A notable absence is Rafael Nadal, who pulled out from his semi-final encounter with Roger Federer last night.

The previous editions of the tournament were held at Key Biscayne, but this time, the venue is different. The Miami Open makes its debut this year at the Hard Rock Stadium which houses 14,000 seats.
