Who is Yelan in Genshin Impact?

Mostly every player remembers the group of adepti that we encounter in Liyue. They are magical beings and gods alike, found within Liyue by Rex Lapix (Zhongli). Out of all the adepti, everyone was first shocked to see Madam Ping, an elderly woman among all strong characters. Therefore, most players ignored her and thought she would never be released as a five-star character.

However, it looks like miHoYo might release her as a five-star character very soon but with a catch. According to some rumors, Yelan is reportedly the younger version of Madam Ping. Furthermore, there are also rumors that Yelan will be the first character to equip a crossbow weapon.

A few weeks ago, it was found that developers are planning on releasing new types of weapons in the game. Givemesport mentioned in its post, “Another massive name in the Genshin Impact community, UBatcha, also commented on the situation. ‘I mentioned a new weapon type before. There are actually Multiple new weapon types being discussed, the crossbow is one of them. I’m not sure what exactly will make it to release and what will be cut during dev.'”

Although it’s not confirmed what type of element Yelan will belong to, some claim that she might be the first character from the Dendro element as well. If all the rumors turn out to be true, then she will be the first character from a new element and weapon type.
