George Russell had a cloud of mystery surrounding his seat at Williams. Rumors were that Williams would drop him, but eventually, the English Constructors stuck with him. His Imola crash is definitely not an apt thank you note on the Briton’s part.
Looking back, Russell quoted it as his ‘stupid mistake’ and sincerely apologized to his team for the DNF. However, he is not being bleak in his approach towards the incident. Rather, he is very optimistic.
“I just need a couple of days to sort of review, get over it. It’s in the past. I’m looking to the future now,” reflected the Briton.

Russell was a few laps away from scoring his first championship points ever in F1. Even though he wasted that opportunity, he knows that he learned an important lesson on the track at Imola.
“I need to take a couple of days to sort of reflect on what has just happened.
“Ultimately as well, I think we got to take away some positives from this. I’ve got to go into the next race with a positive frame of mind, because we need to fight to get ourselves back in this position again,” remarked the Williams racer.
