Yuvraj Singh, who announced his retirement from international cricket in June, got permission to play in T20 leagues outside India. Currently, he is playing in the Global T20 Canada for Toronto Nationals. Although the start was shaky, he took the limelight with his all-round performance against Brampton Wolves in Brampton, Ontario.

Toronto Nationals won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, Brampton Wolves opener George Munsey scored a blitzy 66 off 36, including 6 fours and 5 sixes and took his side to a huge total of 222 after 20 overs. Apart from him, Babar Hayat also helped by scoring a great knock of 48* off 18 which included 2 boundaries and 5 sixes.

However, India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was in-form from the beginning. He took a juggling catch in his third attempt at mid-off and dismissed Lendl Simmons for 19 off J Gordon. Although the batsman felt the catch wouldn’t be taken, the all-rounder made it brilliantly. He even dismissed Nitish Kumar for 26 when the batsman gave a catch to Brendon McCullum in the 15th over.

Not only ball and field, but Yuvraj Singh entertained the crowd at CAA Centre in Ontario with the bat also. He was seen in his old form when he smashed 51 from mere 22 balls. He walked in at No.4, resurrect the innings and started hitting from the beginning. His 51 off 22 including five sixes and 3 boundaries. This was his first half-century in the Global T20 Canada.

“I was happy to see my IPL coach, he wasn’t happy with my bat swing during IPL. Hopefully the crowd enjoyed those big hits,” Yuvraj said.

Yuvraj Singh’s Toronto Nationals have won 1 game only out of 4 and are currently placed at the 5th among six teams. They need to win the final game against Montreal Tigers on Sunday to remain in the race of selection for the Round 2.
