More often than not, a family of athletes breeds athletes. While some argue that it’s in their blood, others say that it’s the exposure they receive as kids that makes them follow in their parent’s footsteps. One such family filled with youngsters with bright careers ahead is the Korda family. Nelly Korda is probably the most widely known of them all for her exploits on the LPGA Tour.

Nelly Korda left her mark upon the golf world in 2021 when she won the Women’s PGA Championship, her first major, and also took the world rank one position for the first time. Korda was unstoppable that season and took home four wins.

According to gmtoday, the LPGA star said after winning her first major championship, “You don’t realize it until someone really talks about it because we’re always so in the zone.” Her sister, Jessica Korda, who plays on the Tour alongside her, placed 15th in the same event but had managed to secure herself a place in the 2021 Olympics.

Meanwhile, her younger brother, Sebastian Korda, a tennis star, was playing at Wimbledon that same week. He too had a chance to get himself a spot at the Olympics in Japan later that year. Nelly added, “We’re always just striving to achieve more.” And the athletic family was certainly accomplishing a lot.

Nelly was proud of her siblings and her parents. She stated, “For our family just to back each other through every situation… it’s so surreal.” The close-knit family, although they didn’t spend a lot of time together, always had each other’s back. Nelly knew she could count on every one of them for support if she ever needed it.

Sebastian followed in his parent’s footsteps. In 2018, 20 years after his father won the Australian Open men’s singles title, Sebi went on to win the Australian Open boys’ singles and became the world’s No. 1 junior.
