When the golf world looks to the future, the one name that rings in everyone’s ears is Charlie Woods. The son of the golf legend, Tiger Woods, has come a long way since he first began playing golf. The 13-year-old, has already caught the eye of many in the golf world. He also has a huge fan base rooting for his future. Recently, a revelation came to light that Charlie may in fact stand to make millions before he even turns pro.

Charlie came into the limelight two years ago when he first played alongside Tiger at the 2020 PNC Championship. Since then, the youngster has come a long way. Earlier this year, he shot a 68, his lowest score to date, in Florida at the qualifier for the Notah Begay III Junior National Golf.

How does Charlie Woods stand to make millions?

The senior director of communications, at Opendorse, Sam Webber, spoke to Sportico recently. He revealed that through the Woods name alone, Charlie could go on to make “seven figures” when he enters high school in a year, towards the end of 2023. Webber said, “Charlie is in rare air, just from name recognition alone.”

Webber further went on to compare Charlie to “Arch Manning,” the nephew of NFL star, Peyton Manning, “Bronny James,” the son of NBA legend LeBron James, and Shaquille O’Neal’s sons. He said that through their last name, these players advertise themselves using their famous relative’s name as a base, and earn heavily through a NIL deal, that athletes use to market their name, image and likeness.

The Opendorse communications director further added, “He’s probably looking at seven figures as soon as he’s eligible.” He suggested that Tiger’s main contract sponsor, Nike, would probably be looking to get Charlie on board with them as well.

What stands in the way of the son Of Tiger Woods to start earning?

Currently, in the state of Florida, where Woods resides, high school athletes are not legally allowed to accept NIL money. So, if Charlie decides to play high school golf, he would not be eligible for a NIL contract.

The way around that is for Charlie to forgo high school golf and play on the junior golf circuits. Webber thinks that if Charlie does this, then companies will flock to him. Webber believes that because of the fame of the Woods name, Charlie is a low risk to advertisers. And this makes him extremely appealing.
