Golf in 2021 was yet again an enthralling year for fans all over the world. From Xander Schauffele Olympic gold and Phil Mickelson creating a history to Tiger Wood’s solo car accident, the year was full of highs and lows.

Professionals often struggle with their game, and as a result, get frustrated. But for some golf can seem very easy on a given day.

Richard Bland’s first European Tour win

Richard Bland won his first professional tournament at the age of 48. He has been a professional golfer since 1996 and had played 477 events, but hadn’t won a single tournament. He won the British Masters at the Belfry in his 478th. The European Tour veteran won in a sudden-death playoff against Guido Migliozzi. Richard finished the tournament at 13 under par.

Hideki wins the Masters

Hideki Matsuyama became the first Japanese professional golfer to win the Master’s tournament in 2021, as well as the first professional golfer to win a major golf championship. He won the tournament with an overall score of 13 under par.

Phil Mickelson creates history

Phil Mickelson won the 2021 PGA Championship held at Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. He won the tournament at the age of 50, breaking the record of Julius Boros, the oldest major winner. Julies Boros won it at the age of 48 in 1968. Phil won the tournament with an overall score of 6 under par.

Tigers comeback Tiger Woods met a horrifying accident at the start of 2021 and sustained serious injuries. Tiger was out of the golf course for several months Tiger made arguably one of the best comebacks in golfing history as he played in the 2021 PNC Championship with his son and shot a final round 57 to finish second in the tournament.

Jon Rahm’s win made special: Jon Rahm won the 2021 US open; his first major championship. The Spaniard has made quite a name for himself and is currently ranked 1st at the World Golf ranking. He won the US Open at Torrey Pines with a score of  6 under par. Despite, it is his first win, the thing which made the victory even better was him winning it on fathers day.

Collin gives it up

Collin Morikawa entered into the 2021 Hero World Championship with a five-stroke lead. But giving it all up in the first nine holes of his final round. He made two double bogeys and one bogey to slip off the lead. As a result, he couldn’t recover from this bizarre start. He went on to score a 4 over par 76 to slip back to tied 5th position.

Ryder Cup horror USA vs. Europe is one of the fiercest rivalries in golf. The European team suffered defeat by the Americans in Whistling Straits Golf Course in Wisconsin. The home team USA earned a 6-2 lead over the Europeans with the highest first-day lead since 1975. The visitors couldn’t recover from this horror and went on to lose the Ryder Cup.

Jordan and Henrik play off the wrong tee Jordan Spieth and Henrik Stenson weren’t playing well in the 2021 Hero World Championship. However, it couldn’t become any worse until they played off the wrong tees and suffered a two-shot penalty for doing the same. The blunder occurred on the 17th hole.

Another masters tournament goes by for Rory McIlroy, who has won three major Championships for a total of four times but still awaits to win the 4th major championship. He is still waiting to win his first Masters tournament. He missed the cut at the 2021 masters as a result, unable to accomplish the feat.

Tiger Woods accident: Tiger Woods suffered a severe accident at the start of the year 2021. Tiger met with a serious car accident just outside Los Angeles. As a result, he suffered serious injuries and his fans feared that his right leg may be amputated.
