2022 Cologuard Classic: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner’s Payout

The 2022 Cologuard Classic began on the 25th of February. Before the PGA Tour Champions event finds out who will win the title this year, let’s find out what the winner should expect from the tournament.
Omni Tucson National in Tucson, Ariz, is hosting the second PGA Tour Champions event this year. The golf course has been hosting the event since its inception; this year would mark the 8th edition of the Classic.

Along with the defending champion Kevin Sutherland, players including Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Mark O’Meara, and Bernhard Langer will try to win the championship title.

Bernhard Langer won the last week’s Chubb Classic. Meanwhile, the Cologuard defending champion secured a tie at the 12th position. It was Tim Petrovic who won second place last week.
The purse money of the tournament
The purse money of the Cologuard Classic of 2022 is $1.8 million. For the prize winner, the payout will be $270,000. Since there is no cut made, all participating in the tournament will receive a part of the purse money. The top 54 will advance into the second round, whereas the top 36 will compete in the final round.
Along with the prize money, the champion will receive other benefits. The winner can collect the Charles Schwab Cup points from the tournament. Each dollar from the prize money gets converted into regular-season points to qualify for the playoffs of the Charles Schwab Cup.

Last year, America’s Kevin Sutherland won the championship with a total score of 15-under par. Mike Weir of Canada secured the second position with 13-under par, whereas Steve Stricker and Scott Parel tied for third with 12-under.
