

Despite being an unauthorized PGA Tour event, the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas is one of the most significant events of the entire year. Pro golfer, Tiger Woods, is hosting the event, which is taking place between December 1–4. In the line-up of the field, we have ten major champions. The line-up also includes seven players ranked in the top 10 in the OWGR. However, people have big hopes for Jon Rahm as the odds are +500 for the golfer.

The five-time champion of the event, Woods, will not be part of the match. The 46-year-old golfer withdrew from the competition on accounts of plantar fasciitis on his right foot. Fans were sad about the announcement. However, he will focus on his hosting duties. Talking about last year, Viktor Hovland took home the winner’s share of $1 million by defeating Scottie Scheffler. Another player in focus is Tony Finau, who has been on fire lately. He has registered three victories since July under his name. The PGA Tour’s Houston Open was the most recently played, two weeks back. Other than Finau, 2014 champion Jordan Spieth and world number six, Xander Schauffele, will also compete for the trophy. Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Collin Morikawa are also playing to take home the big check.

Cameron Young, the PGA Tour’s Rookie of the Year, and Tom Kim, unquestionably two more players to watch in 2022, are also participants. In other changes, Will Zalatoris, who was included in the original field, is replaced by Shane Lowry, the champion of the BMW PGA Championship, and Corey Conners replaced Hideki Matsuyama.
Purse and breakdown of the event
The prize pool is $3.5 million, and the winner will take home $1 million. The runner-up will also return home with $350,000, so even the second spot is good. Not just that, golfers will be able to earn other benefits and prizes. The Hero World Challenge will provide OWGR points as well. The event also supports the Tiger Woods Foundation. Therefore, the event for a good cause has big numbers to play for.
