2022 LPGA CP Women’s Open: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner’s Payout

The CP Canadian Open is due to start this weekend. Top players in the women’s roster will ply their trade at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. The tournament returns to the LPGA schedule after a two-year hiatus, getting canceled for the last two years due to COVID-19.

The total pool of the prize money has been increased this year, with the sum now standing at $2,350,000 The winner will be guaranteed a share of $352,500, the standard 15% of the purse.

Jin Young-Ko won the 2019 edition of the tournament, emerging victorious by a record margin of 5 strokes. The World No.1 will be back at the tourney to defend her title this year.

12 of the top 13 players in the world will compete for a $2,350,000 prize purse. Reigning US Women’s Open victor and world No. 2, Minjee L,e will be among the players who could force a new winner at the Open. So is Nelly Korda, who captured her first win of the season a mere few weeks back at the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series in Sotogrande, Spain.

The tournament favorite, however, will be home-girl, Brooke Henderson, who is coming to the tournament on the back of winning the Evian Amundi Championship. It won’t be her debut win on home turf, having won here in the 2018 edition held at Wascana Country Club. Lydia Ko is another name floated around the betting circles, having won the event a record 3 times.

Apart from the aforementioned winner’s prize money, the champion of this year’s Canadian Open will be at the end of other benefits too. A two-year exemption at the LPGA Tour awaits the winner, along with berths into other big tournaments.

Apart from this, the winner will be awarded 500 points towards the Race to the CME Globe. The top 60 players in the rankings at the end of the Pelican Women’s Championship will get into the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship, where the winner will receive an eye-watering $1.5 million.
