Following the Honda LPGA Thailand, the LPGA Tour has headed to California for the JTBC Classic. The event will be held at the Aviara Golf Club, and promises a weekend of fun and entertainment like every other LPGA event. Starting in 2010, this will be the 12th edition for the tournament.

Formerly known as the Kia Classic, the name changed to JTBC Classic after their sponsor change. This year, Inbee Park and Jin Yong Ko are amongst the popular stars taking the field.

Unfortunately, Nelly Korda will miss the event because of a blood clot in her arm.

That being said, Park clinched the last edition of the tournament, which she won by five strokes.

Where will the event take place?

As mentioned, the tournament will be played at the Aviara Golf Club. It comes with a Hyatt resort and an additional residential area. Furthermore, The JTBC Classic has been played there since 2013. Scoring, per reports, is on the lower side.

Additionally, the venue is an Arnold Palmer design.

The course is open to the public, and anyone of any age and skill level can pick a tee time. Of course, they rank the course among some of the best courses in the San Diego area. The course covers hillsides and has native wildflowers planted. Bunkers and water hazards are present, making it a unique venue.

They also hosted the 2021 US Open.

The venue has a golf academy, which was mentioned by the Golf Digest as a top 25 school in the USA.

Unsurprisingly, the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort boasts luxury and is a pleasant stay for anyone considering a trip. Their golf club also offers the services of the Taylormade Performance Lab, which was primarily available only to pro’s on tour. Now, anyone can get customized Taylormade equipment.

Having said that, let’s take a look at the total prize pool and distribution for the event.

Winner’s payout at the 2022 LPGA JTBC Classic

According to reports, the JTBC Classic has a prize pool of $1.5 million. The winner, however, takes home a whopping $225,000. They will also win 500 Race to the CME Globe points. Furthermore, berths to the more LPGA Tour events and a two-year exemption on the LPGA tour are awarded to the winner.
