

The 2022 PGA Championship venue, Southern Hills Country Club, is not only in the limelight for the challenge it poses but also due to the skyrocketing prices of various food items and beverages available to the spectators during the event. Moreover, on May 17th, the PGA of America talked about the same and defended the high pricing policy.

The prices of beer cans present this week at Southern Hills Country Club touches $20. Michelob Ultra is available for $18, Stella Artois costs $19, and a glass of wine will be available for $13. Souvenir and signature cocktail prices stand at $19. However, it is not the beverages that are only expensive, but food items are also very costly. A chicken Caesar costs $16, Butcher’s Grind Cheeseburger is up for grabs at $14, and a hot dog costs $8 at the new concession area.

Not only fans but professionals like Justin Thomas also condemned the insane prices. He tweeted, saying, “Gotta treat the fans better than that!”
Chief Championship Officer of the PGA of America opens up on the soaring price at PGA Championship
Moreover, one of the tournament officials, Chief Championship Officer of the PGA of America, Kerry Haigh, tried to justify the soaring prices at the 2022 PGA Championship.

The tournament officials were asked about the soaring prices on Tuesday and they strategically defended the absurd menu prices. Chief Championship Officer defended the prices and said, “The pricing of the product is sort of comparable to stadium events. We’re comfortable with where we are, and we hope spectators will come out and have a great time and a great experience.”

He added, “We also have a new ticketing pricing offering for all the spectators this year, which includes basically as much food and non-alcoholic beverage as they want included in the price of the ticket. Starting Thursday, spectators will be able to drink non-alcoholic beverages and as much food as they want for the price of their ticket”

Furthermore, the tournament official’s words prove that they seem okay with the soaring prices. At the same time, they tried to justify the same using the new model of the concession area present this week at Southern Hills Country Club.
