The total purse offered is $2.1 million, with the winner taking home a grand $315,000. It is a standard 15% payout for the PGA Tour Champions event. Each dollar earned will be directed into Charles Schwab Cup points. These points are critical for season-long rankings and playoff eligibility.

On the same note, the top five players on the Charles Schwab ranking at the end of the season will share a $2.1 million bonus pool, which is paid as annuities based on final standings. Although the Constellation Furyk & Friends does not offer any OWGR points as part of the PGA Tour policy, there are some other lucrative perks.

The Champions will be able to secure an exemption for the rest of the current season and the entire following season. This can further include invitations to senior majors and opportunities to host pro-am events with enhanced hospitality. It can also provide one-year entry into the Final Stage of the Tour’s Qualifying Tournament.

By the end of the event, no matter the standings, every veteran on the course will be entitled to a certain prize money. But who are some important figures in the course?

Top contenders to watch for

Starting strong is Steven Alker. The 2022 Charles Schwab Cup champion has been a constant presence on top of the leaderboards and currently sits third in this year’s rankings. He had accumulated one win already at the Cologuard Classic and had a recent share of the 36-hole lead at the PURE Insurance Championship.

Coming up next is another strong contender, Stewart Cink. The 52-year-old has been outperforming everyone this season as he sits second in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. His year has been great so far, as he collected two victories — one at the Insperity Invitational and another at The Ally Challenge. Who knows, the third might be due on Sunday? Even if he can’t muster a win, he is surely going to remain at the top of the leaderboard as he has already recorded four consecutive top-three finishes before this event.

At last, there is Rocco Mediate. The defending champion of the event could prove that expertise on the course is an added advantage. Despite calling his 2025 season “awful” with no top-10 finishes until now, the 62-year-old veteran has flipped the script for himself this week. Otherwise, his resume does boast some gold records, like five PGA Tour Champions wins, including the 2016 Senior PGA Championship. Hence, he is not unfamiliar with a triumphant victory.

Dark horse pick: Matt Gogel, who set the 36-hole scoring record this week, could still throw a surprise if he keeps up his hot streak.
