Now, with the expectations to start the victory spree like the 2024 season, the golfer has unexpectedly taken a break from participation ahead of the second major. As per the final roster of the Truist Championship shared by the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler‘s name was missing. Surprisingly, there hasn’t been any update on why he is missing the event. It is speculated that the golfer will be taking time off to prepare for the PGA Championship.

Tom Kim

Tom Kim had his last victory his last in 2023, and has struggled to perform this season. Until now, with 11 participations, he has recorded T7 at the AT&T Pebble Beach as the best finish. With just one top 10 finish and four missed cuts, his form has raised worries. Kim even missed the cut at the last CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Now, with the struggle, the world No. 41 has skipped the signature event to participate in the Myrtle Beach Classic, which is teeing off at the same time.

Billy Horschel

Another shocking name that will be missing the event is Billy Horschel. The world No. 24, who has won 8 times on the PGA Tour, has shown great performance this year too. He recorded a T4 at the Valspar Championship and a T9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. After his last appearance at the RBC Heritage, he was all set to participate in the Zurich Classic, but he withdrew at the last moment, citing a lower-body injury.

Nicolas Echavarria

Nico Echavarria, the Par 3 contest winner at the Masters, has shown great performance sight this year. With ups and downs in his performance, the 2x winner at the PGA Tour has achieved a runner-up finish as the best this year. But with his concerning performance at the Truist this year, too, he has stepped away from it. The golfer first participated in 2023, where he missed the cut by recording rounds of 74 and 69. Following this, in 2024, he kept himself off the roster. Similarly, in 2025, too, he will be missing the course action for the second time. However, with Tom Kim, the golfer will be teeing off at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

At last, the Canadian professional, Mackenzie Hughes, has also joined the list of names missing the Truist Championship. The two-time PGA Tour winner has struggled with his consistency this year; as recently as securing a T3 finish at the RBC Heritage, the golfer missed the cut at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Now, with the fear of continuing the ups and downs, the golfer has taken a break from the course but will tee off at Myrtle Beach instead. Even though he was placed 6th last year, with the 2025 decision to skip, it will be his best finish until the next appearance.
