S.H. Kim is chasing his first win of the season at the 2025 Visit Knoxville Open purse, but it’s not looking easy. With top players like Pontus Nyholm trailing right behind and, Andrew Kozan, Ryan Hall, and Logan McAllister all tied for the 3rd spot, the competition is fierce. The event is being played at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee, and the third round is underway, with S.H. Kim currently in the lead at -14.
But what’s on the line for the winner apart from the trophy? Well, quite a lot! The winner will take home a significant prize of $180,000 from the $1,000,000 purse, which is the standard 18% payout according to the Korn Ferry Tour’s prize money distribution chart. This is a major incentive for the players, and they’ll be giving it their all to claim the top spot. The stakes are high, and the reward is worth the effort, with the winner also earning 500 Korn Ferry Tour points and approximately 16 Official World Golf Ranking points.
The stakes are high, with the winner earning a boost to their world ranking and a significant advantage in the Road to French Lick. The top 20 players at the end of the 2025 season will earn a PGA Tour card for the following season, making every point crucial. With the Road to French Lick heating up, the competition is expected to be intense, and the players will need to bring their A-game to succeed.

Charity at the forefront: 2025 Visit Knoxville Open
The 2025 Visit Knoxville Open, running from May 19th to 25th at Holston Hills Country Club, is bringing together 156 professional golfers for the 35th consecutive year, all vying for a spot on the “Path to the PGA TOUR.” Beyond the competition, the tournament benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, providing vital support for young people through programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development. The charity’s mission is to put success within reach of every member, offering world-class experiences and opportunities for growth.
They did this in 2023 as well, and the results were a hole-in-one for charity – the Visit Knoxville Open announced that the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley are the recipient of a $70,000 award. This nonprofit organization is a real par-fect fit, with programs and services that drive diversity, equity, and inclusion in underserved communities right down the fairway. The funds were earned through the PGA TOUR Charity Challenge, a fantasy-style competition where host organizations across the PGA TOUR, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA TOUR Champions get to pick a local charitable beneficiary to tee off for. The Visit Knoxville Open finished 2nd place in the season-long standings, earning a top prize of $70,000 for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.
