In fact, his divorce from his first wife, Laura Andrassy, cost him over $100 million.
The shark’s marriage to Andrassy ended with tons of bitterness and resentment. Not only did their relationship end in heartbreak, but it also saw Norman suffer a huge financial blow.

As per TCPalm in 2008, Laura Andrassy stood to receive $103 million from Norman as part of their divorce settlement. Furthermore, Norman’s children will receive at least $100 million from all his golf trophies, to be split among them after he passes.

Andrassy was to receive a payment of $50 million and an additional $30.2 million spread across the next 15 years. She was due $17.5 million from the sale of the couple’s Jupiter Island estate, “Tranquility.” Other assets were also to be sold, like their home in Palm Beach, for which she was owed $4 million. Andrassy was also to receive $466,000 from their retirement account and $500,000 in jewelry.

In their divorce settlement, Andrassy walked away with more than many would hope to earn in a lifetime. But why did the couple split up? The two-time major winner married Laura in 1981. The couple was together for 25 years before they split. In 2006, after a scandalous and messy incident, the couple called it quits.
That same year, while Norman was still married, he met Chris Evert. The two were both in marriages and left their spouses to get together. Soon after ending things with his ex-wife, Evert and Norman began seeing each other. But Norman had an extremely heavy price to pay for that, one that he is still paying.
