It takes a lot of effort to make perfect equipment for any sport. Considering a putter is the one that helps the golfer to hole the golf ball, it has to be perfect. That is why Scotty Cameron pays so much attention to each putter his brand makes. 

Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka uses Scotty Cameron putters. However, in an interview, Cameron revealed that the 2022 Sony Open champion Hideki Matsuyama also uses the brand’s putter. He said, “in the last five years, Hideki Matsuyama has gotten the most and the coolest putters.”

  • Scotty Cameron’s father introduced him to golf.

It was his father who introduced Cameron to golf. His father was a +2 handicap. The father-son pair used to experiment on different clubs to make a perfect putter.

Although he couldn’t see Scotty becoming an expert putter designer, his father always believed in him. “Stick with the game of golf, Scotty. I think you have a future.” These words of his father helped Cameron make the putters that most of the golfers use. 

  • Bernhard Langer helped Cameron to become successful.

The dream became successful in 1992 as he created his own company named Cameron Golf International. The putters became famous after Bernhard Langer won the Masters with it in 1993. 

However, the brand didn’t achieve this success without any hard work. Cameron and his wife used to visit the PGA Tour events to convince the golfers to play with their putters.

  • Scotty Cameron had once made an ace in par 5.

As a golfer, his handicap was 1.3 but, Cameron said that he had made an ace on a par 5. The handicap score is the score that shows one’s ability as a golfer; 1.3 is considered to be a low handicap score.

  • It is not just golf that inspires Scotty in designing putters.

As a designer, Cameron always seeks inspiration to design his putters. He observes designs of watches, motor vehicles, etc. If you observe a Scotty Cameron putter, you can see the influence of designs of watches, cars, etc. on them. 

  • Scotty Cameron once said no to Brad Bryant’s request.

The brand is also known for making customized putters as per the golfer’s wish. However, when Brad Bryant asked to make a customized putter for him, Cameron couldn’t help but say no.

According to the designer, that was the weirdest request he had ever received. Bryant asked for a wedge with a putter face; In his defense, Bryant asked this since he was putting well with his wedge.
