“But I think some of the guys would take $50 million over winning a Green Jacket,” said Spiranac. She discussed the LIV Golf Series and why players would choose the League over PGA Tour on her podcast ‘Playing a Round with Paige Renee.’
She and her co-host Amand talked with Teddy G in the latest episode, ‘QB Dads, LIV & Robot Umps.’
The LIV Golf Invitational Series is about to begin on 9 June with 7 individual tournaments and one team event to conclude it. According to the reports, the Series is offering massive prize money for the winners of the events.
Each individual tournament of the Series offers purse money of $25 million. Meanwhile, the purse money of the final team event is $50 million. The LIV Series overpowers the PGA Tour in terms of offering rewards to its players. The most rewarding tournament of the Tour is the PLAYERS Championship, which offers a $20 million purse.

Therefore, Spiranac thinks at least some of the players would choose money over the Green Jackets of Masters. The 2022 Masters Tournament offered the purse money of $15 million, $3.5 million more than last year. The winner of the event, Scottie Scheffler, won $2.7 million along with the Green Jacket as per the event’s tradition.
Paige Spiranac thinks the LIV Golf Series would be an eye-opener for golf fans
“A really big part of this is that it’s opening people’s eyes to the fact that athletes aren’t just doing this for the love of the game,” Spiranac said. “It’s for money,” she added.

The former pro got realistic when she explained the matter to her audience. She explained that even though the fans don’t want to admit it, it is not always the passion that drives the entities to play their choice of sport but the money.
“It is really is a job for most of these guys,” Spiranac said. “It really is not about Championships or majors, especially within golf,” she further added.

Although it is not something the fans would want to hear, the sport is a job for some of the players. And since the LIV Golf Series offers more money than any of the PGA Tour events, they might play them.
