His records are living proof of how good he used to be during his prime years on the field. However, he once shared his take on how he managed to keep the game fun for himself.

Phil Mickelson shared his secret to keeping golf fun

Mickelson, whose parents thought he’d soon get bored of the sport in his childhood, is the one of the world’s most talked about golfers today. The LIV Golf star is currently trying to work on his game to get back to his best form. However, Mickelson has won numerous tournaments in the past including six major championships on the PGA Tour.

Being successful in the field requires a different level of skill and hard work. However, Mickelson believes that a person needs to enjoy the game first. And he once explained how he made sure he enjoyed it enough when on the field.

“Sometimes I get to the course, and I don’t feel like getting out of the car,” Lefty said. “Then I just turn around and go back home. That’s why a lot of younger kids get burned out. Because their parents tell them, ‘You have to practice.’ Then it becomes work, and it’s not fun anymore.”

His unique ways of looking at the game might be the reason behind his successful career. However, his parents never knew he was going to reach such heights in his field. His mother, Mary Mickelson, revealed how the golfer “used to come down the stairs, arms full of balls, and a club” when he was 2 years old. But little did they know that his interest in the sport would lead him to be surrounded by “15 top golfers competing for five spots”.

Mickelson had all the support from the world until he hit a controversy with his statements about the PGA Tour.
