For a weight-lifting, muscular, Bryson DeChambeau, the slightest thought of being emotional makes for a weird picture. Yet, the guy who gained 20 pounds within three months of the COVID hiatus, has shed bags of tears during the emotional moments of his career. DeChambeau once teared up by watching his parents live after his debut major championship victory in the 2020 U.S. Open.

Among those was the victory at Winged Foot, sealed with a dominating six-stroke win. The win was an emotional one for DeChambeau, who finally sealed one of the four coveted trophies in golf folklore after making the waves in the junior circuits.

However, there were more surprises in store for DeChambeau. After returning to the clubhouse, the champion was treated to a pleasant surprise when he found out the organizers had screened a live telecast of his parents from back home.

Tears swelled up immediately for DeChambeau, who hadn’t expected the surprise at all. “Oh my god,” the golfer exclaimed as he saw his parents on the call. His parents, father Jon and mother Jan, seemed over the moon with their son’s achievement.

“Congrats, yay!” his mom yelled, later adding to her son, “Love you, we are so proud.” On the other hand, Jon had a typical father-like appreciation for his son. “Great job,” he said with a smile.

Later on the call, the camera panned to Bryson’s extended family, which left the golfer speechless. The whole incident left DeChambeau in tears after a monumental day in his golf career.

Has Bryson DeChambeau ever won another Major?

Unfortunately, the 2020 U.S. Open remains DeChambeau’s only major championship so far. For somebody who, in some aspects, has sort of revolutionized the way golfers tend to train, DeChambeau hasn’t yet hit the same mark in terms of his professional achievements.

Now plying his trade on the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series, not many give DeChambeau a shot of winning another major. Indeed, the very question of him and other LIV golfers participating in the majors remains a doubt, with the four associations yet to make a decision regarding the ostracized golfers.
