The Open Championship is now just hours away, and the excitement is at an all-time high. However, the players feel the excitement of the event too, and hence the practice round serves as a good way for them to polish their skills on the course ahead of their contention in the final major. Many friends pair up to help each other out on the course, and among the many pairs on Wednesday was that of PGA Tour loyalist Jon Rahm and LIV star Phil Mickelson.

Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm Practice a round before the Open Championship

A day ahead of the final major of the year, Mickelson and Rahm joined his companion for a practice round at Hoylake. The World Number 3 and the six-time major winner have known each other for over a decade now, ever since the Spaniard turned pro and began competing alongside Lefty on the PGA Tour.

It seems, however, that their relationship has stood the test of time as well as distance. Despite Mickelson’s move to LIV, the two have remained friends. In fact, at all three majors this year, the pair teed up on the course together during the practice round!

Tour Pro’s Twitter account shared a picture of both the golf pros on the course from the court and captioned it as, “Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson are playing a practice round for The Open today. Jon has played practice rounds with Phil at every major this year. I love how no matter how much the media has tried to tarnish Phil the past year, Jon has been one of the few to stick by Phil’s side.”

Within their decade-long relationship, the two, despite having an age difference of 25 years, have shared many mesmerizing moments on the course. And two of them came to this year’s majors!

Mickelson and Rahm share a long-lasting bond

After joining LIV Golf, Mickelson had to face severe challenges due to the ongoing tension between the PGA Tour and LIV. This also affected his reputation in front of the media. However, Rahm didn’t care about the feud between the two sides, and he didn’t let it affect their friendship!

Another awe-filled moment between the two was when Mickelson also gave Rahm useful advice on how to chip the ball on the dense green a day before the U.S. Open 2023. Moreover, at the 2023 Masters, when the Spaniard won his first green jacket, Mickelson was hidden among the columns to surprise and congratulate him.
