Over the years, several players have shared their own Tiger Woods story. Everyone likes to be associated with one of the greatest players ever, but Columbian golfer Camilo Villegas has one of the best stories to recall. He shared his tale with the golf great at the ‘Subpar’ podcast, an experience he wouldn’t be forgetting anytime soon.

While conversing with Subpar hosts, Drew Stoltz and Colt Knost, Villegas’ wasn’t able to hold his excitement to share his story with Tiger Woods. “Hey, hey, hey, wait,” he said. “I gotta tell you the Tiger story. I’ve listened to your podcast here and there, and there’s always someone telling Tiger stories.”

The floor was set for Villegas to quote an exciting story. Back in 2008, when the Columbian golfer was represented by IMG, he received an offer to play in a skins game in Thailand later that year. However, a tight schedule meant Villegas couldn’t participate without heavenly intervention. Henceforth, came the divine help from golf great Tiger Woods.
The management company took care of the logistics as Villegas secured a seat on Woods’ luxurious private jet alongside the owner himself and his entourage. While the story so far has been somewhat like a dream, it only got downhill for the protagonist hereafter.
Villegas’ wine slip on jet
Tired after winning the skins game, Villegas requested a glass of water upon boarding the jet. However, Woods wanted him to enjoy his win and asked to at least have a wine. The Columbian obliged, with an enormous glass of red wine accompanying his glass of water.
However, he forgot the existence of the wine during take-off. By the time the wine spilled, it was all too late. “I look to my right and there is red wine flying everywhere,” Villegas said. “Tiger is to my left, he looks and goes, ‘Nice.’ I start sweating dude. I’m sweating here. I’m sweating.”

Despite being offered help from one of the staffers, the guest on the plane refused. “I’m on the floor for about 40 minutes trying to get this out,” Villegas said. “It’s the side panel, it’s the chair, it’s the carpet. This is not coming out. Finally I turn around and look at Tiger. I say, ‘Bro, just send this thing to get cleaned and send me the bill.’”
However, he received the shock of his life when he found an invoice for the bill in his locker a few months later. The bill? A massive $25,000. Despite the staggering amount, Villegas paid the bill.
