Phil Mickelson is well-known in the field of golf for his game and many more reasons. He recently got a lot of buzzes after he joined the LIV Golf Invitational Series. Other than being a splendid golfer, Mickelson is also a good sport among his fellow golfers. But things took a funny turn when American pro golfer Keith Mitchell decided to prank the golfer on social media.

Mitchell is known as the ‘master of pranks’ among the golfers, and so there are a lot of stories of him pranking his friends on the course. One of these stories includes 6-time major winner Phil Mickelson, who fell victim to the prankster.
The Instagram Prank on Phil Mickelson
In an interview with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz, Mitchell shared one of the pranks he pulled on Mickelson. This happened when Mitchell found out that Mickelson was playing a practice round for the Masters.
Mitchell shared that he saw Mickelson sleeping on a bench inside the locker room at the Wells Fargo Championship. Taking advantage of the scene, Mitchell decided to click a picture as part of his prank and posted it on Instagram. He said he felt comfortable having a little fun with Mickelson.

It was right after Mickelson had gotten active on social media, so Mitchell thought this was the best time to pull an ‘Instagram’ prank on him. Mitchell told them, “He’d just gotten social media — he felt like the king of social media, I was like, ‘This is gold.’”

At first, Mickelson was not so happy with what Mitchell had done. But later, Mickelson cooled down and laughed it out. This made it clear to Mitchell that it was going to be payback time for him soon.

Mitchell said, “I promise you, he was so pissed,”.

Mickelson tries to get back at Mitchell
After a few weeks when Mitchell was at the TPC Sawgrass at the Players Championship, a cop stopped him out of nowhere. The officer gave him a paternity lawsuit, which made the golfer nervous initially. But Mitchell, being the prankster that he was, soon understood what was going on. As soon as he found out that Mickelson was behind the scene, Mitchell decided to have some fun with the cop as well.

Mitchell signed Mickelson’s name instead of his own as a way to break the joke being pulled on him. He said, “I just signed in big letters, ‘Phil Mickelson'”. When Mickelson found out that his prank didn’t work, he couldn’t believe it and even suggested that someone might have tipped Mitchell about his prank.
