In 2009, the legacy of Tiger Woods was put into jeopardy after his cheating allegations became public. Though many women accepted having a relationship with Woods, pop singer, Jessica Simpson, called out a notable US Tabloid for falsely linking her with the Hall of Famer.

Tiger and Simpson had been friends for many years before their rumored fling. But as the Star Magazine decided to make a cover labeled ‘Shocking Story’ about an encounter between the singer and the golfer, Jessica Simpson decided to shut down all the false speculations.

No love angle with Tiger Woods, claims Simpson

During the 2009 National AT&T Pro-am tournament in Bethesda, Maryland, Simpson was invited to sing the American National anthem. However, she also spent more time on the course after her performance, with her then-NFL Quarterback boyfriend Tony Romo, who is known to be an avid golfer.

Nonetheless, later the couple posed for a picture with Tiger Woods. A few weeks later, Star Magazine’s new cover indicated an affair between Woods and Simpson, as the magazine claimed that both celebrities flirted heavily during their conversation in front of Romo and even shared text messages after the event.

However, Jessica Simpson called out the media outlet for their fake allegations on Twitter. She tweeted, “[I] can’t believe that I’m on the cover of star magazine with Tiger Woods, what a JOKE! ‘The Shocking Inside Story’ is (insert drumroll) A LIE!” The feud between the singer and the Tabloid soon escalated as Jessica Simpson threatened to sue Star Magazine in December 2009.

Despite the strong links, it is unclear if the singer did take legal action against the magazine. Albeit, Jessica Simpson rejected having an affair with the Hall of Famer, soon more than 100 women claimed of having had a fling with Tiger Woods. The 15-time Major winner’s reputation took a massive decline.
