Thompson Believes in Cent Percent Commitment Despite Injury Woes at THE ANNIKA Event
The ANNIKA LGPA event will offer a $3.25 million purse, and it is the highest of any non-major sports on the ongoing tour. It is the last tournament for the top 60 players to make the cut to the season-ending $7 million CME Group Tour Championship in Naples. And, Lexi Thompson has adopted a headstrong demeanor to ‘push through the pain’ to give her best shot at attempting to qualify for the finale.

Thompson believes in adopting the right mindset. In an interview with ASAP Sports, she was asked about her go-to mantra when doubt creeps in. To this, Thompson replied, “Back off. Back off and hopefully it goes away. You know, golf, it does, you know. It’s such a mental game. You have to be 100% committed. If you’re not you just back away and you try to get rid of those thoughts and go into it with a positive attitude as best you can.”

Going forth with this positivity, Thompson’s resurgence is proof of her dynamic, adaptable nature. She has sustained injuries “falling down some stairs” on her hand and tailbone. However, she is pushing through it at THE ANNIKA event with full dedication.

Injury-Ridden Thompson Opens With a 64 at the $3.25M Event
Lexi Thompson opened with a 64 at THE ANNIKA event. For the third time, she has shot a round of 64 or higher at the Pelican Golf Club. Ahead of the events this week, she occupied the 88 position. She needs to move at least 28 spots to make the cut for the finale. Thompson is quite pleased with her performance, and she expects to move up 10 spots.
It is her invincible spirit and positive attitude that keeps her going regardless of the problems. This is what makes her an icon in the golfing world.
