Rory McIlroy and his perfect shots are well-known to all of us. However, he once missed a perfect shot and ended up hitting his own father.

Rory is highly skilled and probably one of the best players the world of golf has ever seen. But how did his father react to the situation? Well, all we can say is, you’d be surprised.
Rory McIlroy once missed the target after a “perfect” shot
Rory McIlroy, his skill, and his loyalty to the PGA Tour are facts well known to all of us. He is known to make perfect shots, and he was doing exactly that when someone important to him came in the way of his “perfect” shot.

Who was this though?
Well, it was actually McIlroy’s father, Gerry McIlroy, who was hit on his leg by Rory’s shot during the 2021 Major’s Championship. Golf Writer, Kyle Porter, posted this on his Twitter account. He wrote, “Was standing on No. 7 when Rory flared one out to the right and hit his dad in the leg. As he limped away, laughing, he looked over at us and said, “I should ask for an autographed glove.” “

Rory was seeing laughing post the shot. His caddy asked him whether it was his dad he hit. Rory affirmed, “Yeah!” Post the game, he was asked if he hit his target. Rory talked about how his shot was in fact perfect and a dead straight one. However, it ended up hitting his dad who was standing outside the fence.

All in all, thankfully, his dad was not severely injured. He joked about the instance, in fact, and asked for an autographed glove.
McIlroy gave opinions about Norman’s “necessary” exit
Rory McIlroy is a renowned PGA Tour loyalist. His dedication to the tour is truly inspirational to many. Additionally, he has been vocal about how Greg Norman should take a step back if PGA Tour and LIV Golf are to ever strike a compromise.

He said, “There are a few things that I would like to see on the LIV side that needs to happen. I think Greg needs to go. I think he just needs to exit stage left. He’s made his mark, but I think now is the right time to sort of say, ‘Look, you’ve got this thing off the ground, but no one is going to talk unless there’s an adult in the room that can actually try to mend fences.'”
As a matter of fact, there were rumors surfacing around Norman’s possible replacement as the CEO of the Saudi-backed League. However, all such rumors were put to rest after a LIV official termed them untrue.
